When that contract expires, I will be 49. Huh.

Still doesn't make me feel quite as old as the fact that the Padres are managed by a guy named Jayce Tingler, though.

When that contract expires, I'll be counting how many managers I'm older than.

Yeesh.

In sad news, Tim Tebow has retired from baseball. Over four seasons, he struck out 31.2% of the time, posted an OBP under .300 and an ISO of .115, while playing what by all accounts was some of the most inept LF defense this side of a North Dakota men's league. His ZiPS projection, had the Mets made good on their longstanding threat to make him a major leaguer, was an astonishing -3.6 fWAR in 334 PAs with a .155/.213/.233 slash line, which would threaten for the worst season in major league history (and likely achieve that distinction if he somehow played more).

I'm really, really disappointed that I will never get to see that.

Another very reasonable deal we should have been in on. I can't believe Tanner Roark is making 12.
We could have had Walker instead of Matz/Chatwood.

I can't be mad at this front office after the off-season we've had but they do have a tendency to blow their load a little early with volume over substance (this year with regards to the pitching staff).

We can’t do anything about Roark now. It is what it is. But the Jays have very few Roark like contracts compared to the other contenders, or compared to the Jays 2-3 seasons ago, so by comparison it’s not worth gripping over. It happens.

The Walker contract looks ok but is far from a bargain imo. The guy we missed out on was Paxson for 1 season.

Why do the Jays operate as a small/mid market team when our other major sports teams dont?

Maybe the Leafs and Raps aren't the free spenders you think they are? The Raps currently rank 16th in payroll. They were 3rd two seasons ago. And the Leafs currently rank 5th, but were 25th 2 seasons ago. So those teams appear to fluctuate just like the Jays.

I really wish that the Mets had signed Bauer so that he and Stroman could have Twitter beefs from across the dressing room.

Seattle's president decided to say all the things to a Rotary club, for some reason. Including all but admitting to collusion, openly stating that they're gaming Kelenic's service time, said some weird things about foreign players (like suggesting that kids from Venezuela need to be taught what a dollar is, in a literal sense; USD is the unofficial currency of Venezuela and has been for years, despite the government's best efforts), and just generally showed his ass.

Also, the Mariners have had to settle sexual harassment lawsuits concerning him in the past, so that's nice.

It’s still pretty awesome that the two most outspoken, irrational and irritating pitchers in MLB are having a Twitter beef.

Stroman seems like a he's a decent dude in a lot of respects, he's just the inevitable result of turning "no one believes in me" from a motivating tool into, like, the very fundamental part of your being, and it's exhausting as all hell.

Bauer is the bunch of kids I knew who were taking engineering and watched Loose Change like 40 times if they were given $50m and a Twitter account.

I'm so glad we moved on from Stroman. His height certainly doesn't measure his ego.

Add a pinch of the holy books of Ayn Rand and voila... dinner is served.

Does WAR scale at different levels? (eg would a 0 WAR AAA player be somebody who is equivalent to an average AA callup?)

If so, I wonder how far down Tebow would have to go to achieve positive WAR. High School?
