As much as I like THT, for the right guy he can definitely be traded. He doesn't fit our AD-Bron timeline and from what I've seen this season he isn't that good in reading the defence and he gets caught a lot in situations. It's obviously a growth thing and he had big potential, but that's in 3-4 year at least. If we could get a great player whilst including THT, you got for it.
Sure but would you give up THT for a guy like Ellington, Grayson or Redick? It might solve some shooting issues and then you end up short a wing defender and it would end up like trading Zubac for Msucala, in the sense that you have a hole in the roster at the end of the season as opposed to a guy who can give you internal development when short of picks and cap space, which the Lakers will be for the foreseeable future.
THT is a guard with a long wingspan, so no he is not a wing defender that will defend a guy like Kawhi, Tatum, Butler, KD, Tobias Harris.
Wes, Kuzma, Bron, and AD will take on those duties. Maybe even some Kieff or Ariza on a buyout?
He is not a great off ball defender
He can't shoot
AC is more valuable
I wouldn't move THT for Ellington. JJ is not doable b/c of contract w/o adding more, so cancel it
I would move him for Grayson Allen
He is 25, so can stay around for some time and a 40%+ shooter for this year and last yr
THT's size (6'4 tall 7'1 wing span) is not far off of PJ Tucker's (6'5 tall 7'2 wing span) and Tucker guards all those guys. I wouldn't mind putting him in a trade but he is on a rookie scale contract and you need to add salary for him, yet it won't get you anywhere near a difference maker unless you add one of Trezz or Schröder, you can't bundle a bunch of minimum guys either as the receiving team can't accommodate those roster slots.
