Fox might look like a weak link but KG/Sheed ain't containing Shaq/Malone.
The issue with per75 numbers;
36pts on 27 fga/9 fta in 36 mins, does this mean he'd keep up the efficiency to get 48pts on 36fga/12fta in 48 mins?
The answer; NO. He's human, not a linearly working machine.
Per75 is efficiency rate, not actual production.

Agreed, but Celtics bench does have a sizeable edge over the Lakers bench. Perkins is a particularly nice bench asset in this series.

Depth becomes less important when you have four top 50 players ever at their peak lol.

Lakers should have Grant instead of effing Slava coming off the bench...

Does any team beat the 2004 Lakers - All Players Peak?

Maybe a Celtics team from the 60s - Cousy, Havlicek, Sharman, Sam Jones all at peak with Russell
Sixers with Moses, Doc, Barkley,
72 Lakers with younger Wilt and Baylor
97 Bulls with peak Parish
86 Celtics - peak Walton
88 Celtics - peak Reggie Lewis and GIlmore
sleeper -76/77 Bullets - BIng, Chenier, Hayes, Unseld, Truck Robinson

sure I'm missing someone, but I still take the 04 Lakers.

Lakers easily have 3 of the best 4 players which is too much for the Celtics to overcome. Plus Payton to throw on Allen or Rondo. So long as Kobe stays out of the way and lets Shaq and Malone get their touches Lakers win.

08 Suns come to mind with peak Shaq, Nash, Amar'e and Hill with some other good players like Dragic, JRich and Barbosa. Also early 80's Lakers with peak Magic/Kareem/McAdoo/Wilkes/Worthy. Even 2012 Spurs with peak big 3+Kawhi would be ridiculous. Also 2019 Warriors with peak Cousins/Iggy on top of their big 4. In today's game that would be hard to stop.

2020 Lakers would probably lose but should be competitive

Lebron, AD, Dwight Howard, JR Smith, Rondo, Danny Green, Dudley,

'85 Lakers is so underrated in these talks. Here's how all players peak would look like for them;

C: 1977 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
PF: 1975 Bob McAdoo
SF: 1989 James Worthy
SG: 1988 Byron Scott
PG: 1987 Magic Johnson

Sub: 1988 Kurt Rambis
Sub: 1980 Jamaal Wilkes
Sub: 1987 Michael Cooper

That's a properly good rotation. Not just the starting 5. I'd probably give '85 Lakers the nod because the starting 5 close enough to make SF rotation and depth of '04 Lakers matter. Worthy&Wilkes vs. Fox&George? Yes, please.

Whoops, I forgot Grant was on this team. Oh well, the contest didn't need to be even more lopsided.

I guess I think the Lakers take this (they certainly have the most talent), but I actually think their fit remains really bad and actually probably is worse compared to the 04 iterations of all these players. Payton and Kobe is a bad fit on the perimeter and Shaq and Malone is an awful fit inside too. At least in 2004 Payton/Malone were both (in theory) aging vets who were willing to take a step back - but could peak Malone/Payton, both of whom are inarguably worse than Shaq and Kobe, still bring themselves to do that?

Color me super, super low on Rondo though in general and especially on a team like this. I'd almost be inclined to start Finley (or even House) for some shooting and have Pierce and Garnett run the offense.

I think other than Rondo, the Celtics fit is pretty seamless on offense and defense and I could easily see them taking it in a series where the Lakers start imploding.

Or at least replace Walton with Grant and he forgot about Bryon Russell.

Eddie House was traded for Robinson, so he would not be on the team anymore.

You need to add Bryon Russell over George and Horace Grant over Luke Walton for the 2004 Lakers. I would start Russell over Fox and how about starting KG at PF and Sheed at C.

Oh I don't think Malone is thaaaat much of a problem.

On the other hand, Shaq... Yeah, that's a hell of a tough matchup for KG/Sheed.
