Lol at not knowing ( not adding to the poll) to the first one to use it as a weapon and thus popularizing it.

Reggie Miller & Jamal Crawford were probably the two who popularized flopping on jumpshots.

I dont care what anyone says, this is why Ill never truly respect Chris Paul. Theres a difference between exaggerating contact and going out of your way to try to create the illusion of hard contact. I remember i was glad the time he injured his shoulder while doing flopping against the Mavs, it was glorious to see karma so instant.

Its important who is allowing it, nit who started it. And that's NBA.

Ginobili first came to mind I don’t really consider Vlade a flopper he had to go against Shaq and I was a Kings fan back then.. but I don’t really recall him flopping shaq was just pushin everybody around during that time

It was the Bad Boys Pistons. They did plenty of cheap shots when the refs weren’t looking and then flopped when the refs were looking:

Then Vlade came along and he didn’t do cheap shots or have a reputation as a dirty player so the refs rewarded him more for it.

Lebron, however, was the first global Superstar to flop and took the popularity of flopping to a whole new level.

Flopping has really developed into an artform with many different styles over the course of the NBA history... We really need to separate all the flops into various categories now and give out awards like it's the Oscars. Let me see, there is the:

- falling on your back trying to take a charge flop
- exaggerating contact either by giving or trying to get through a screen flop
- pretending you got hit taking a jumper by excessive body motion in the air flop
- pretending the defender didn't give you enough space to land on your jumper & fall to the ground flop
- head snapback while driving flop
- verbal, yelling like you got hacked when there's barely any contact flop
- excessively wail and stumble around while your defender is trying to deny you the ball flop
- barely being grazed on the nose and pretending like your head was just hit by an high-impact assault rifle flop
- being slightly bumped off-balanced by a defender but jumping like your in a snake pit full of vipers flop

...Is there any i've missed? I haven't included stuff like the rip-through move, Dwyane Wade jumping into defenders mid-air or Trae Young cutting in front of players and then jumping back into them because i don't see that as a 'flop' per se, but i guess you could define it as that.

The originators are the Celtics with bill

Then the Lakers learned, pistons became great at it, Jordan’s bulls won multiple titles as leaders as it. All Teams started doing it
Stop being so disrespectful.

Its one thing to have skinny bald Manu or little Barea, Tony Parker, CP3 flop. Its a completely different thing to see a guy whos premier trademark is "he's built like a freight train" flops all over the place. Thats just embarrassing. To have that same guy call him self "too tough" and similar cheesy statements makes it even worse.

Manu was the first in the modern game to get really theatric with his flopping. Pop & Timmy probably have 1 or 2 fewer rings if it wasn't for his Oscar-worthy performances.

Flopping disrespects both the game and the fans.
Flopping absolutely works in the regular season
Flopping has definitely got in the way of players like CP3 winning in the play-offs as he focused on flopping instead of making the right play-off basketball play
