I had read when they brought in Craig they viewed him as that piece but it does not seem that he has worked out. I think that is why the interest in Tucker seems to persist.
Giannis torching the Clippers as a small ball 5 in the 4th is some more evidence on this front.
The question then becomes whether PJ Tucker has enough gas left in the tank to be worth what we'd need to deal to get him.
I mean if it's just DJ Wilson as a 'young player' who cares.
If it's just 1 second round pick I'd get that too. We could buy another one.
If it's 2-3 second rounders though that would take more time to recoup.
Don't get me wrong: If we think Tucker is a Stackhouse kind of chemistry fit who could catalyze the roster, I'm all for it!
However, if it's more a desperation flier, I have some reservations at least about the opportunity cost.
When we cranked up the defensive pressure towards the end of the 4th, it was Pat in the line-up instead of Lopez. Now I'm not disagreeing with the premise you both made about small ball but could it be less about "small ball" and more about getting someone in the line-up that is athletic, can make the switches, and guard multiple positions? It is a little chicken & egg thing but personally, I believe it to be the latter.
