Giannis torching the Clippers as a small ball 5 in the 4th is some more evidence on this front.

The question then becomes whether PJ Tucker has enough gas left in the tank to be worth what we'd need to deal to get him.

I mean if it's just DJ Wilson as a 'young player' who cares.

If it's just 1 second round pick I'd get that too. We could buy another one.

If it's 2-3 second rounders though that would take more time to recoup.

Don't get me wrong: If we think Tucker is a Stackhouse kind of chemistry fit who could catalyze the roster, I'm all for it!

However, if it's more a desperation flier, I have some reservations at least about the opportunity cost.

When we cranked up the defensive pressure towards the end of the 4th, it was Pat in the line-up instead of Lopez. Now I'm not disagreeing with the premise you both made about small ball but could it be less about "small ball" and more about getting someone in the line-up that is athletic, can make the switches, and guard multiple positions? It is a little chicken & egg thing but personally, I believe it to be the latter.

Imagine thinking a 6'5 front court player going on 36 is going to help your defense come the playoffs. You know, instead of shot creators who aren't complete sieves (just provide SOME resistance) like Forbes and Augustin.

Agree. Any assets spent, and contact slots sent out, should be to get a guy like Wright or Satoransky. Tucker as a buyout guy? I guess I could tolerate that.

LeBron just loading up on all the passing...Bron, Jokic, Doncic, Simmons, CP3, Curry all on one team, jesus christ. Giannis is the worst passer there by far and he's a very good passer in his own right lol

KD's team is basically bag twitter's dream lmao

So Blake is getting bought out. We'd have to clear some space but he'd be a nice addition since he can do everything.

Except run and play defense.

Imagine the passing that could be on display for team Lebron. Not a single bad passer in that group for their position haha

Blake Griffin is exactly the type of player we were praying would sign here off of buyouts before we got good and now we're good but we don't want players like him because he isn't a perfect player for the veteran minimum. Meh.

I'm fine with Blake, but the idea that he can do everything is, well, not true. I mean, is he even better than Portis these days?

All we would need from Blake is 15 mins of smart role player basketball. I'm confident he can draw some fouls, hit open shots, and he's clearly an above average passer.

I mean even if we got a Bobby Portis level player out of him that would be amazing. And I doubt that's that far off of the realm of possibility.

I hope Giannis is selling him hard because I don't think we're frontrunners by a mile.

Could the Clippers or Lakers use Blake?

Idk the extent to which we could compete with a contender in LA if they can offer him a similar amount of minutes.

Miami and Brooklyn too probably.

But if Blake could get more minutes here and sees Giannis as being able to cover for his weaknesses in a way that helps him earn a bigger deal moving forward, maybe there’d be interest.

If Batum looks good in a min contract, Blake can too.

Saw some talk on here today, not sure if in this thread, on the closing lineup vs Clips being small with Pat out there. So I noticed they're trying it again today. This is what I generally want, however, you simply have to find someone better than Pat. You're not gonna go too far if he's you're closing lineup. And I'm not a Pat hater, he's a fine bench guy, but this is above his head.

ETA: lol, Pat hits a go ahead 3 with 30 seconds left right after I hit click on this

We're hard capped and have no picks. Aside from half the team taking a 10% pay cut to sign players to give us more depth, how is it even realistically possible for the Bucks to improve this team to be good enough to win a championship? I think we have to keep Giannis, Jrue, Midds, and Portis. Can players take a pay cut mid season? Has anyone done that ever?

I'm no Pat fan, but he outplayed DJA, Forbes, and Donte combined from a stats level tonight.

Ya it's not a rip on him. He's fine. Expecting him to be a closing lineup guy on a title contending team is just asking too much of him. I've been wanting the small ball closing lineup for 2 years so I like this as the goal/plan going forward. And possible for what to target in trades now or in offseason.
