Mike Conley Named To All-Star Game For First Time In 14-Year Career

Mike Conley has been named to the 2021 All-Star Game as an injury replacement for Devin Booker on Team Durant.

Booker was an injury replacement for Anthony Davis.

This is the first NBA All-Star selection for Conley, who is in his 14th season. He is averaging 16.1 points and 5.7 assists and shooting a career-high 42.2 percent from three-point range in 29 games this season.

He’s a fake all star. There should only be 24 all stars regardless of if they get injured. This is a dumb system. Conley will be known as an all star now all because someone got hurt. Same goes for Booker and Sabonis. If they all get Covid and can’t play the game does that mean they can just name 24 other players as stars? NBA needs to fix this.

He's putting up good numbers but he made it because his team has the best record. Just like when the Pistons would have 4 all stars even though some of their numbers weren't all star worthy.

Nothing to add. Just quoted to emphasize. There have always been individual All Stars, an d then Team All Stars where its just about recognizing a team with a good record and almost any starter on that team will do.

All-star selections are for recognition of team and individual achievement during the season. Selecting replacements let you know the people who were the last to be taken off the list. All-NBA selections are the real meaningful selections.

The fact that Klay Thompson was top ten for the west is a joke.

Fix that **** first.

As for Conley, he should've been an all star years ago, not this season.

Good for him. Yeah, there are more deserving but the jazz have the best record in the nba and conley gets to add this to a very good career resume. At the end of the day, it’s pretty cool

I think that too. Conley got robbed from a roster spot a few years ago, so I'm glad he has an Allstar selection in his resume now. BUT I don't agree with NBA's logic. Some years have 27 allstars, some years have 24, I think there was one year with 31 or 32.
Would DeRozan get the nod if someonelse gets injured? is he supposed to wish that? Maybe NBA should select 30 allstars every year, but only 24 get to play or all 30 get to play but no injury replacements.

Now Booker has an asterix.

That’s my point Conley will be remembered as a one time all star when he really shouldn’t have been in. This is unfair towards the players that originally made it.
