Well, he did nothing last year, and hung onto Kyrie in 2019... He has to make a move this time...

Last season he had a good reason because the Celts had a good record heading into the trade deadline.

And in 2019, he was saving the assets for an Anthony Davis trade in the off-season.

This time around, he has no excuse.

He has a huge excuse. He has 28.5 mil TPE that can't use all of at this deadline because of the hardcap. One of his primary trade assets hasn't played a minute of basketball this season in Langford. This is a sellers market as so many teams are not in playoff hunt that they have little reason to feel like they have to get something for an expiring asset.

So much of this is about the other team. Overpaying to motivate someone to sell is bad business.

The hard cap will not be a problem if Ainge can trade TT.
Celts will not even pay luxury tax this season if the Celts get Barnes using the TPE and Ainge finds a taker for TT.
There are also other ways to go under the tax.
So I don't think the hard cap or the luxury tax is the main issue.

I think the main issue is will Ainge overpay.

Like you said, it's bad business to motivate someone to sell by overpaying.

But I think it depends on how much you overpay.
If it's a slight overpay, I think it's worth it.

What a stupid trade for OKC. Then again, he was being wasted there so might as well

Couple of true contenders swapping blue chip players.

Jokes aside I would’ve taken a flyer on Svi for nothing he’s a solid shooter. Diallo is alright too better than Teague. If those two garbage heap teams can make a trade and Danny does jack I’ll be vehemently upset.

I think it's a good sign that the Celtic front office is quiet.

No doubt in my mind Ainge will make a move.

The question is will it be overwhelming or underwhelming?

A lot of Celtic fans were excited to know what Ainge can get for Rondo.
That was one of the most underwhelming trades Ainge has ever made.

I can't believe Ainge didn't get in on this. This is just screaming for a third team to jump in for a top-75 protected 2031 third rounder.

They've won 11 of 12 without KD, beat the Lakers (no AD but still no KD), Spurs, Clippers, Celtics, Suns without KD and Kyrie. Impressive for sure

Which is why all this talk of loading up to win this year is ridiculous. The real window for this team is 2 years from now. We'll compete now, but we need these guys to grow into their roles and that takes some time. Also, the current top dogs will be aging out quickly right when the Js hit their peaks. Patience

this is such a dog sh*t take. It's always 2 years from now. Guess what. In 2 years there will be another super duper team and it'll be the window is now extending out 2 more years. . That's the way of the league. Danny is in a position to make his own super team...if he doesn't go for it then in a few years Brown and Tatum will leave and go form another superteam elsewhere. .He has 2 stars. he needs to figure this crap out and get it done.....I don't think they NEED a Harden-type to walk through that door in order to be a better team than BK. BK has 3 players. Shamet won't shoot like he did last night throughout a 7-game series. Neither will Kyrie. Yes Kyrie/KD/Harden is unreal. but the rest of that roster is pedestrian at best. If Danny added a Barnes and another useful vet to what he already has I really like the Celtics chances...BK can't guard anyone....If Boston has 4-5 guys that can score, then BK won't be able to stop Boston...and I like Boston's chances of getting a stop over BK's...... of course all of this assuming Ainge makes a couple moves. If he doesn't then this team simply isn't good enough to compete in the East this year. period. but they aren't far off either

Agreed

Looked at wing type players making $3-7 million with at least one more left on there contract and might be available.

Troy Brown Jr - WAS
Michael Carter-Williams - ORL
Kevin Knox - NYK
Austin Rivers - NYK
Jake Layman - MIN
Grayson Allen - MEM
Danuel House - HOU
Rodney McGruder - DET
Josh Jackson - DET

Not an impressive list

I hope Ainge does nothing. Seriously.

The melts from this board will be far more enjoyable than watching this years team anyway.

Danny has been playing possum the entire time!

Now with Svi-sanity on the move, expect 2 of Embiid, Jokic, or Lillard to shake free for pennies on the dollar within the next 48 hours. Book it!

Do it Danny!

TommyForever wrote:Brown >>> Beal

If you can’t see it I don’t know what to tell you.

First of all how old is Beal? That should be enough to agree.

Has Beal been to 3 Eastern Conference Finals? Did he do it before he was 24?

Can Beal finish with both hands?

How’s Beals defense? Now compare to Jaylen.

Jaylen is way more athletic. Can jump off both feet, just left, or just right foot equally as high. He has a monster mentality. He is better than Beal.

Maybe some of you just like the bigger name?

I’d love Beal for Kemba. That’s a deal in dream only.

You can post it several times but it doesn’t make it true. We’d all love kemba for beal. Sign me up right now. If you wanna say brown WILL be better than beal, I’d disagree but that’s a conversation. Brown better than beal today? No chance. I couldn’t care less if beal or brown can finish with both hands.

Couldn’t careless if Jaylen is more athletic than beal. Not at all. Jaylens defense is overrated, he’s a good defender on ball. His team defense hasn’t been good at all for awhile. He’s not better than beal right now, good chance he won’t be ever but we can’t predict the future but right now? Nope.
