Lol what kind of data is this? How do they measure ‘spacing’ credibly? What is the methodology? Smells like the guy fabricated some wonky stats to make Lebron look good

Not everything is a conspiracy, friend. Cranjis is a prominent data guy. He really likes relativizing stuff and deals with percentiles a lot. You're welcome to explore his work.

Schröder is an excellent player. Won't deny it.

It's not so much Dennis is a excellent player. It is that the talent level after AD and Dennis (2nd and 3rd best players) falls off so hard on that Lakers roster. A 36 year LeBron and role players who are asked to do more than they are consistently capable of doing in the West is not a winning recipe. Especially right before the All-Star break.

I don't think it's a conspiracy, I just think the guy is biased as hell and those biases sneaked into his work, judging by his social media presence. Everything he talks about is Lakers and Lebron.

Yeah he's a Lakers fan, but fandom shouldn't disqualify the work of basketball people. Some of the best contributions to basketball came from people working for the Lakers. And his offering is league-wide and the data doesn't discriminate. Also he's often really critical of the Lakers based on his data, probably most critical out of anyone in the Lakers sphere.

I'm not really sure how his findings are particularly controversial.

It isnt. Without AD, i'd say Lebron has the worst cast out of anyone in the MVP race sans Dame (without CJ/Nurk)

Cranjis is legit. Maybe the best basketball analyst out there right now. He’s the guy behind The BBall Index and has plenty of work to explore.

It’s not that hard to believe. Markieff, Schroder, Kuzma, Caruso, KCP, Damian Jones, Harrell, and washed up Wes Matthews is a pretty lackluster supporting cast in terms of any of those variables you want to go by but they’re winning games regardless. Schroder is the only other perimeter guy who can create his own shot and he’s not efficient. KCP being the best shooter says a lot. And none of them are necessarily known to be all-world defenders except for Caruso who’s missed a lot of time and hasn’t looked like himself most of the year.

They had the wrong LA record when the article went live. Lakers are 7-6 since AD's injury on Valentine's day, not 5-10 like it stated. Then they fixed the record, but left the same statement and didn't add a note, nor adjusted the rankings.

Lakers are a 2nd seed with AD out almost a third of the season. In the WEST. Let that sink in.

Agreed except from the caps about the West.
LeBron had won his MVPs in the East.
Should we say that he shouldn't have won because he played in a weaker conference?
No we shouldn't.

Jrue missed 10 gms with COVID and still hasn't fully recovered. The top 4 in the East is just as good if not better than the top 4 in the west with Philly missing Embiid Nets missing Durant and Heat missing Butler for a long stretch.

The whole season all I've heard about the mvp race is how X is beating Jokic.

Maybe since he's been apparently only behind whoever is stanning for their favourite player it's time to admit who the clear front runner is.

You're right, Giannis is now the true MVP front runner

Jokic, Dame and Bron as 1, 2 and 3.. very similar to the ladder.

Giannis is getting way too much attention for piling up stats on garbage. Easiest player to game plan against and will be out against 76ers, Heat, Nets, Denver, Lac, Lal, Jazz, Dal, Blazers etc in the playoffs

At this very moment it's Dame/Lebron/Jokic to me. All of their teams are bunched up pretty close in the standings as well. Could depend on who goes on a run here.
