This is the reality. The next month or month and a half things will become clear. Whoever goes on a run as a team will be the difference, as long as the players maintain their current output or close to it.

He won't win it, but Chris Paul is the most valuable player in my book.
Imagine all the teams you could add Chris Paul to, and they become playoffs teams or title contenders overnight....
He could probably drag any team in the NBA to the playoffs, because he doesn't need spot-up shooters everywhere.
But the MVP award is heavily based on individual stats, not "just" winning ability, so he can't win it.
I put "just" in quotes, because there really should be nothing more important than the ability to make a team win....

Low seed? Nuggets are currently the 5th seed 2.5 games behind the 2nd seed. They would be 4th in the east 2 games behind the Bucks. You people are talking like the Nuggets are a 9th seed.

Ridiculous that people are trying write Jokic off for being 2.5 games out but say nothing about LeBron playing with AD, even if he has missed games.

It’s facts. Outside of westboook, mvps go to top 2 seeds. Pretty much every time the last 30 years. That’s called precedent.

Is anyone even saying Jokic can’t win from here? As far as I can see people are just saying he needs a higher seed. Which historically, 95% of the time is a fact.

Funny how fast everybody writes LBJ off even thought we have no idea how many games he will miss.
Embiid was a frontrunner with 7 missed games, so in my opinion, LeBron can miss 2 weeks and still be in the race. Lakers, of course, would need to climb back in the top 2 in the west. It can be done, lots of time until May 16th.

However, it's a great opportunity for Nuggets and Blazers to climb in the standings while James and Davis are out, making them the favorites.

Teams are usually separated by a much wider margin than this. Over 5 wins away from top 2 seeds is a lot, less than that should really be meaningless, because it is meaningless. You could argue that seeding this season is meaningless too if you’re top 6, because there’s basically no home court advantage, so what is the actual incentive to fight for more than top 6?

And Jokic deserves to be the exception more than Westbrook did, because there's no one that's as good of a competition to him as Harden was to Westbrook that year.

Well they said up to 2 month. Media already tried to diminish Embiid's chances by claiming 7 games was too many earlier this year and after 2nd injury they pretty much brushed him aside. We will see if they have double standards for LeBron as they typically do.

Uhm... Harden this year? He had been carrying nets on incredible rate.

Nope. Numbers not nearly as good as Jokic's, both regular and advanced, missed the 1st part of the season for selfish reasons, is on a stacked team and in one of the weakest Easts ever. And goes 4/15 last game against one of the worst teams in the league, and they lose by 8, which they wouldn't if he shot decently from the field. He had Kyrie go 19/31 and score 43, and still didn't manage to get the W. Did Jokic have a game nearly as awful as Harden did there this season? Nope, he brings it every night.

Harden literally forced his way out of the Rockets, it would be a travesty if the guy who acted so unprofessionally won the MPV award.

That doesn't even need to be an argument right now imo. If Jokic and him were looking like a tie, it would perhaps be the deciding argument, but because they're not tied in any way, it doesn't even need to be brought up. The fact is, he missed like 9 games because of that, so he basically has 1075 minutes played right now compared to Jokic's 1471, and he's having worse averages, worse per 36 stats, on worse efficiency while playing 400 less minutes, worse advanced stats and just a slightly better record in a super-weak conference, and on a stacked team. People still simply don't get how historically great Jokic's season is right now.

This is why to me outside of Lebron(although he's old now), I'm taking Giannis #1 over any other player to build a team around simply because of his availability alone with Harden and Lillard a close second. There are other players more skilled than him but with the other guys you just never know how many games they'll play or miss during the season. Plus Giannis stays in shape during the off-season unlike some of the other players(ex. Jokic & Luka) With guys like Durant, Curry, Leonard, Irving, Davis, Embiid I never know when they're going to play sometimes.

And the Bucks beat Denver in Denver. So they’re 1-1 H2H.

But Jokic outplayed Giannis in that loss, it's just one of those Jamal Murray things where he goes 4/17, and MPJ 3/9.
