That sucks. This season was way too compressed to get 72 games in.

Im actuallu asking that to Suggs and maybe Mobley a little as well. Biggest stage for their audition and you would think they go HAM.

Some brutally selfish possessions by OKST late. How are these guys not passing it Cunningham? And then Cade misses his own terrible runner in traffic.

Rough close.

Mobley has played well. I’m still taking Suggs over Cade. This pass alone sold me on him being a top 3 prospect.

I have not done a full deep dive into Suggs.

I’m watching the Gonzaga - OU game today.

One thing I will watch closely to evaluate is whether or not he can develop into a dynamic scorer. Or is he simply a floor general who can drive. Is he just a more reliable version of what we have in Fultz? With a better shot? — but he’s not Lilliard or the prototypical PG that the modern NBA is built on?

Please do correct me and tell me I’m wrong but please offer detailed explanations if so. I want to be wrong. I want this class to re-earn my excitement but the more I study it the more it loses.

When I do watch Suggs I do see elite skills worthy of a top 5 pick. However, the elite skills I see are not necessarily the ones I would prefer right now. I see leadership, court vision, playmaking and more. I don’t see a dynamic scorer who can take over the game by himself. We need that right now.

I’m not 100% sold on Suggs as a total package. I just like him more than Cade.

Yup.. it's the dynamic scoring or "scoring in bunches" that I havent seen him do. I personally think it's because he is in a loaded GONZAGA team and another, he is just a rookie playing with proven scorers that are upperclassmen and thus passes to them more.

Suggs always racks up steals. I know in the U19 he averaged 2.4 steals in 15 mpg.

I don't much care about this. Good offensive players aren't good because they score a bunch of points. They are good because they make their team's offense better. Anyone can score a lot by taking a lot of shots. You can take a lot of shots and hurt your team's offense. Steve Nash very well might be the best offensive player in the history of the NBA. He never averaged 20 points per game in a season and only averaged 14 per game for his career.

I have no doubt that Suggs will make his team's offense better. He looks like he will be a decent finisher around the basket. He looks like he will force teams to go over the screen to defend his shot. He knows how to use change of pace to create separation and open up a defense. He has good vision and is a willing passer. Everything he does is decisive and crisp. He gets the ball where it needs to be and when it needs to be there. He just doesn't look like a guy that is worried about getting his. He looks like a guy that is making reads and making the right decisions.

I compared him to Deron Williams. I don't think he is as good as Williams was when he entered the NBA. I also don't think he is quite the pure point guard that Williams was at the time, but Williams also played three years of college ball. Williams went out of his way to keep his teammates involved. He took the tough shots when the offense wasn't working, but more often than not, he would set up his teammates at the expense of his own scoring. The comparison is in that both were on stacked teams and both really stood out compared to their teammates. You can just see that their synapses are firing faster than everyone else's on the court.

In addition to all of this, he has good size, is a really good athlete, and he looks like a terrific defender. He has some terrific blocks in the paint as a help defender. You just don't expect to get that from a point guard.

I don't think we have the ideal personnel to complement him at present. I think the combination of Vucevic and Clifford would neutralize some of his strengths (transition offense), but I'm not passing up a talented guard for that reason. If Green, Cunningham, and Suggs were on the board, I don't know who I would take. I think Cunningham is getting the benefit of the doubt due to this being the era of the wing, but I love Suggs and Green as well.

This year is really hard for me.

Normally there is a universal big board of mocks where I love one or two guys and absolutely HATE a few.

For example, I was very high on Luka and Ayton but I really hated Bagley and Carter.

This year??? Give me Cade, Green or Suggs and I really truly honestly do not care. I’ll “settle” for Mobley or Kuminga and be a happy camper as well.

Just give me TALENT

I wouldn't consider myself a bandwagoner, but he's having a poor tournament showing so far.

Leonard Hamilton clearly has a focused game plan tonight and Scottie Barnes has the role of Mr. Defense. He is executing that game plan very well.

Obviously I would want a player who could add more value on both ends of the floor. We already have Isaac in this role. Hence Barnes is not the player I want for Orlando. That doesn’t mean I am low on him as an NBA prospect just as I am not low on Isaac (minus the injuries).

Barnes gets in trouble when he tries to do more and FSU starts getting in trouble with turnovers. It looks like they want to focus on their roles a bit more tonight and it’s working so far.

Yeah.. I get that. In this extremely loaded draft, I think wr can afford to be picky and choose the many players that can fill up the stat sheet esp in scoring before taking a look at Barnes.
