They know.
If I can make a phone call and a player gets a ten day deal, AT THE VERY LEAST they are tapped in to what Wizards fans are saying. Between Twitter; Bullets Forever, Washington Post and Baltimore Sun commentary; Sports talk radio— and RealGM....
At the very least they hear ideas. Some well informed people do care a ton.
They know Davis Bertans did not appear fit. I would assume the reason could be he was unable to train or else he would have been in shape. I would venture to wild guess he might have injured himself by training too hard. Whatever the reason DUDE HAS STRUGGLED post contract.
The only person up against the clock is Scott Brooks...because I’m pretty sure Tommy Shepherd is getting paid years to come.
Sorry for the rant; All I am saying is whoever knows has to get past Ted Leonsis with whatever goes down.
Latvian Laser and Romanian American former GM...and Greek American benefactor owner....
I really like Ted. I’m not sure how I feel about him as a GM. I know I’ve been a wizard fan from when they were called the bullets in 1973...I am sick of editing my talk to text
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Just a minor note... Wizards had a small trade exception which expired today. Ok, carry on.

The Clippers just did a deal with Sac'to that opens a roster spot for them. This must mean that we're going to do a deal with them, right?

If the Wiz go after him in the offseason, it'll have to be via sign and trade - probably for Bertans.

Cavs fans on the Trade Board love him. And the Cavs have plenty of cap flexibility to pay his new contract. I'm assuming it would require some significant incentive to pry Allen away from them. I like Allen, but it would be insane to use our top 7 pick to get him and then pay him a market rate in free agency. If we wanted him, we should have tried to get him back when the Nets were foolishly willing to give him away for peanuts.
EDIT: I guess, technically, it was the Rockets who foolishly gave him away for peanuts. They flipped him for a late pick from the Cavs in the Harden trade.

Re: Official Trade Thread -- Part XL
Spoiler:
You rant and rave about nothing here.
Bertans, while now overpaid it seems, did not cost anyone but Ted anything. We had zero cap space to work with and we are still under the tax. You didnt address this in the slightest except talking about Bertans being a one skilled player.
Charlotte's 2 most expensive players make $47m combined. Our 2 most expensive make $70m.
LOL. Talk about cherry picking. So you just completely ignore the 27M they are paying Batum. They are paying 55M for Hayward and Batum. We are paying 70M for Beal and Russ... Yeah, we got the better deal there chief.
"Boom" just affirms that miracles are possible.
"Miracles" are the 1980 US Hockey team. Not savvy moves by professional organizations in a ever changing dynamic environment.
And Boom wasnt my plan. I laid out my outlook/plan and you disregarded it. I'll take "Wash outs" like Bonga and Wagner over the Charlotte "Prospects" like Malik Monk, Jaden McDaniels, Carey, and the Martin twins.
You are trying to frame the situation to fit your argument. The Hornet are not where they are because of the guys they have drafted in the last 3 years. Its because of Hayward, Ball, and Rozier playing out of his mind.
I'll say it again. You add Mobley and Kenny Atkinson to this team, then we in the top 6 in the east with some upside.

Re: Official Trade Thread -- Part XL
Tell you what... I'll take responsibility for, somehow, having provoked the "rant and rave" remark, ok? In return for that, however, why don't you & I agree not to use that kind of language with one another -- I hope that's ok w/ you.
(But, no need to make a big deal of it, or even to make a point of replying to the request explicitly; I'll know if we're on the same page by the tenor of our exchanges going forward.)
If you laid out your plan, I missed it. I did see "make a good pick" -- fair enough; we all want that. & "a couple of savvy moves/trades" (that's from memory, so maybe not your exact phrasing), & of course that would be nice. It would also be good if some of our young guys had "natural" improvement.
As for the Hornets, there's something to what you say -- Rozier is playing great, & Lamelo has been huge. Along w/ Hayward, they are certainly the big reason for Charlotte's improvement. & I absolutely should have included the $9m they are paying Batum this year (& each of the following 2 years) when discussing the financial flexibility they have compared to us (& a whole lot of other teams too).
Yet, obviously, that financial advantage is real. & you can mock their guys all you want, but Charlotte has waltzed past us. In fact, only 4 teams in the NBA have worse records than ours. For a Wizards fan to point fingers at another team seems unwarranted.
Could we be in the top 6 in the East if we had Mobley & Atkinson was our coach? I don't know. We don't have Atkinson coaching this team, & it will take an extraordinary piece of good luck for us to have Mobley (may it happen!).
OTOH, at least we can agree that Atkinson would be a good choice for our next coach.
Finally... you are a perennial optimist: what could possibly be wrong with that? Nothing as far as I can see. Certainly, it's way better than being a perennial pessimist!
So let's hope that our professional organization makes some savvy moves & that the result in this ever changing dynamic environment is that we start to improve. I'm sure that would make us both happy! Peace!

Q Mayo reported that during this last week, a couple of wiz players have been urging the front office to make a move(s)
He and pretty much every other reporter/writer has made it clear that Brown Jr and Wagner are being shopped. Not sure what you’re getting for that.

Not much. Best hope is to get a similarly under-utilized player with some talent.

Re: Official Trade Thread -- Part XL
So the Wizards are bad enough that there's no danger of them trading picks for a "win now" piece, correct?

Well, Tommy said they wouldn't do that, but he also said they wouldn't trade Wall.

An inevitable danger of retaining vets at the deadline is being pushed into making idiotic win now trades and refusing to trade your own assets for tomorrow.

I really don't think they will. If they do, it will be for a pretty good, pretty young guy - a Myles Turner tier player.
I think the more likely scenario is they squander Troy Brown, trading him for a stopgap veteran who is either expiring or overpriced next year.

Probably should have traded Troy Brown and maybe Wagner for Mamadou Diallo when he was available. Perhaps he still is.

2 days. Will this trade deadline slide softly into the night with the wizards not better off or will something magical happen.

TBJr and Wagner did themselves well in the game vs the Knicks. That should help their prospects for a trade.
