For defence it is not a brilliant move, but NBA these days isn't about defence anyway. It is all about efficient scoring.
I was wondering about this too. On one hand, Vuc starting will probably mean Thad going back to the bench, which is kind of what you want for the type of minutes Thad can play anyway. So in this hot potato offense we're running, Sato and Vuc should be more than enough to facilitate that starting unit. Also with Vuc and Lauri, the spacing should be much better compared to having Thad or Wendell in there meaning easier baskets for Zach and PW. Off the bench we'd have Thad and Temple to stabilize things for Coby, Brown, and Wagner.
On the other hand, a legit PG will help us limit those turnovers that's been killing us all season. Had we not turned the ball over so damn much, we would've squarely been above .500 right now with how good we are offensively.
