True. But the job is clear now. Getting t the playmaker or facilitator figured to get done either now or later because that is the next step. Maximizing what we have is on the front burner

Great move Vucevic makes the Bulls a better team. He really opens the floor for Zach and Coby. Bulls are a playoff team!

Between the lack of fit with Vuc and losing him at the end of the season for nothing, I have to think (Hope?) AK will hold onto Lauri for as long as he can and then take the best deal on the table.

If the Bulls keep Lauri:
- I hope the team intends on re-signing him
- Vuc and him will be bad on defense but on offense, Vuc will help Lauri a lot and the overall spacing will be crazy.

I wonder what this means for the starting PF, Thad or Markkanen?

Lauri has been the default choice, but it's pretty clear Thad's been key for the team whenever he's out there. He's been critical to take advantage of help defense on Lavine on the P&R, while Lauri isn't a playmaker.

If Thad starts, Lauri goes to the bench? That might be best for him, just fire away as a 6th man.

We still have Sato so its not make or break at this point. Something we will look at in the offseason if we cant pull it off before the deadline.

Open lanes for Zach to drive.

Great trade for us, the time was right to swap some draft capital for another star player.

White, Williams, Carter Jr, Hutchinson... all 1st round picks that wouldn't do more than keep us a treadmill team. Sometimes you've got to add proven quality at the cost of picks.

Now that we have Vuc, I like the idea of keeping Lauri. Play 5 out. Zach will have room to drive at will. Ballhandling by committee.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/trade-grades-magic-deal-nikola-vucevic-to-bulls-for-wendell-carter-jr-otto-porter-jr-and-picks-per-report/

Bulls trade grade: A
It cannot be overstated how much offensive firepower Vucevic brings to the Bulls. He's one of only four players this season averaging 24 points and 10 boards a game -- the other three are all MVP contenders (Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid). The pick-and-pop game between him and Zach LaVine is going to be a dream come true for the Bulls, and are probably hoping to stagger some of their minutes together so that when LaVine goes to the bench its offense doesn't become stagnant as its been prone to do.

Chicago is under pressure to win now. LaVine will be entering the final year of his deal next season, and would surely command attention from several teams in the league. Adding another All-Star to this roster gives LaVine some reason to stay, especially if this team makes the playoffs this year. Giving up Carter, who has a lengthy injury history, Porter and two first-round picks to keep the star player of the team happy is an incredibly small price to pay on a journey toward making the postseason.

Magic trade grade: B-
I'm actually surprised the Magic couldn't get a better deal out of the Bulls or any other team in the league for a two-time All-Star who is putting up career numbers.

AK earned his checks today. I like both deals he pulled of. Having top-4 protection on both picks is great. Hopefully he still has a deal in him for a vet PG, Brogdon or Lonzo would be great.

Ideally we make the playoffs via the play-in then keep our top-4 pick in this loaded draft. That's technically possible right?

you're right. Maybe Vuc will help Lauri a lot on offense. It's crazy how big of an upgrade on offense from Wendell to Vuc. Defense never cared about Wendell. He can't shoot the mid-range consistent enough, he can't shoot the 3, he's not big enough to finish inside effectively. With Vuc and Zach, Lauri will see the defense starts parting like the Red Sea.

Lauri has been our best defensive big for some time this season--just like last night... and though sadder words have never been put on a screen in the Internet era, he's nowhere near as bad as he was his first 3 years here. I think people still have rotation PTSD from watching him during the previous years. He's a vastly better player on that side of the ball this year.

I was wondering about this too. On one hand, Vuc starting will probably mean Thad going back to the bench, which is kind of what you want for the type of minutes Thad can play anyway. So in this hot potato offense we're running, Sato and Vuc should be more than enough to facilitate that starting unit. Also with Vuc and Lauri, the spacing should be much better compared to having Thad or Wendell in there meaning easier baskets for Zach and PW. Off the bench we'd have Thad and Temple to stabilize things for Coby, Brown, and Wagner.

On the other hand, a legit PG will help us limit those turnovers that's been killing us all season. Had we not turned the ball over so damn much, we would've squarely been above .500 right now with how good we are offensively.

Yeah, I wonder the same thing. But, our best stretch coincides more with Thad coming off the bench. So I expect Thad to return to the bench, and BD will figure out how to play Lauri and Vuc together to start the game.

I’m happy to keep Lauri with the new roster and see what he can do as the true third option on the team. Not overly thrilled with the defensive pairing with Vuc, but I’m willing to give them the rest of the season to see how we gel as a team.

Playing w the Capulator, seems to me like if the Bulls Renounce Lauri/Felicio, Denzel, Temple, Kornet, Mokoka, Dotson, then decline options on/renounce Wagner, Arc, Troy Brown, team can free up ~$16M in cap space. Wave/Stretch Thad and Sato and that increases to $35M. So potentially run with Vuc, Zach, Aminu, PW, Coby, Max guy, 7 min guys. If you think that's a meaningful team.

Wow, they got Vucevic! 2 first round picks are steep though.
