If you caught woj on ESPN just now, he feels that the Cs have a legit shot at Drummond. Thoughts?

I'd prefer Dieng honestly. But who knows. Usually buyouts don't help much anyways

Drummond might fit well here.

We need rebounding and size help. He and timelord will make it very difficult as rim runners. I gotta see Drummond on our team defensively before i say he isn't good.

Rob's energy is incredible.

Better shooter and defender. Won't need a big role

Drummond could have any of these guy's roster spots and I'd be fine with it:
Edwards
Kornet
Wagner
Semi
probably Thompson? I don't care

But I say screw the narrative that we have a hole in the middle. Happy with what we've got, regardless of whether we think Wagner has potential to become the next Theis, and/or if we have any hopes of developing Tacko into the next Manute Bol/Shawn Bradley.

As long as he doesn't supplant Time Lord in the starting lineup, I'm fine with adding Drummond. He'll be huge off our bench. I just think he hasn't played for a good coach like Stevens ever since he came into the league, so there might still be some potential to be unlocked from him.

I like Drummond. Great rebounder and can provide some post scoring.

Suddenly, we won't have a big problem anymore.

Kemba/Prichard.
Smart/Fournier (not sure who gets the start here)
Brown/Williams
Tatum/Wagner
Drummond/Timelord/TT

This is a team, that if they get their heads out of their assess, can get to the ECF....and then get annihilated by the Nets.

I will cry if they sign Drummond. Goodbye to any kind of offense. A center who takes 15 shots a game with a 50 TS%. I will never trust Ainge again.

Ah geez the reality is that we're a sub .500 team so who are we to turn down help when the other contenders are calling on him.

I understand his shortcomings but Drummond can help here, can carve out a role geared toward his strengths where he don't have to do so much.

For the minimum why the hell not? Rob will still play and we could use the extra body for insurance.

When physicality, rebounding, and interior presence are weaknesses of your team, it usually makes sense to spend a minimum contract on a guy who is averaging 22 and 17 along with 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1.5 blocks per 36.

If the other contenders sign Drummond, that helps the Celtics. He is one of the biggest losers in the NBA.

He's too young to be a ring chaser. Here he could tell a pretty good story if the Cs turn arround this season and make some noise in the play offs, plus point in contract negotiations. Additionally he might hope for the Stevens effect were guys get a good pay day after they leave Boston.

He may not take 15 shots a game. Remember, every team is set up differently depending on the nature of the roster. Drummond at the Pistons and Cavaliers was a more offensively limited set up that what he would be at Boston. With that being said, Drummond's inside scoring would be a very welcome addition to our limited offence. We rely so heavily on three ball that we dig ourselves into a hole in games when they are not falling. Having a dominant paint player gives us an option to remedy that problem.

In any case, the reason for brining in Drummond would be for rebounding and rim protection. Rebounding in particular has been a problem for us for years and it is something that needs to be addressed if we are going to make it out of the Eastern Conference. Remember, rebounding is the most important aspect of the game and Drummond is one of the best in the business.

Stability of the franchise, the demand for his skillset and the personnel around him. Most players want to be in the playoffs and we can offer him this given that we have a highly talented albeit underachieving roster. The Celtics also need an elite level rebounder and rim protector who can score down low when the threes are not falling.

Another thing to take into account is that Drummond is actually an underrated passer! Remember when was at the Pistons and he would operate from the elbow and he would find shooters from off-ball screens and split cuts. I'm not saying he is like Jokic but I can remember before Blake Griffin got traded there he was averaging something like 4 assists per game.

Lastly, I think the chance to work with players like Tatum, Brown and Kemba could really work out well, particularly if Brad Stevens uses his big body in two man actions. Once again I'm thinking about his days at the Pistons with the likes of Reggie Jackson and Ish Smith. They also ran a lot of dribble hand off plays at the Pistons when Drummond was there and that is an underlying feature of the Brad Stevens era. Finally, Drummond also does make an effort on the defensive end and that is something that we seriously need a shot in the arm with.
