2-3 zone experiment should probably die here. It's just worse than the drop, especially with Brook in. D was fine to good in the first half, then mid 3rd we went to the 2-3, and their bench guys went bananas. Not great, but not losing my mind over it.

Getting creamed on the glass was more frustrating. Giannis not moving and just watching balls hit the ground has been a recurring thing this past week.

Brook with a ‘Snell-like’ stat line at the half 0/0/0. He was useless in the first half. Didn’t catch the second half so don’t know if he got any better

Clippers are the best in the league on wide open 3s at 44%. This game was not an aberration, it was just a good night for them. It was bad defensive scheming and execution that lead us to the loss. Zone doesn't do much good against elite shooting teams, and they hit 4 in a row when we gave it a go. Overhelping drivers doesn't do much either. I think Bud is "trying" stuff he knows will fail so he can go back to losing in the playoffs with what he feels comfortable with.

Kennard got hot and made a bunch of tough shots, but the Bucks were already losing when he did. He just put them away.

They were within seven.

ETA: It actually should have been closer. A missed rebound that lead to one of his threes could have had it down to four or five. They missed that rebound, and Kennard went nuts.

We started with semi good defense switching but for some reason because Morris and Jackson hit a few contested jumpshots we started playing zone defense early in the game.

Clippers started the game shooting 2/10 from 3.
They hit 17/24 the rest of the game mostly against the zone.
Bud didn't change a thing.

And to that I say, who cares? They tried something new tonight. Clearly, if there's anything to take away from the regular season over the last couple years it's that it doesn't mean a ton. Maybe the zone ends up being a total bomb and they scrap it. But I'm good with them trying it out for a while.

I get the feeling Bud has the mentality that his defensive schemes are awesome, the players just aren't executing them properly. I can't think of another reason why he absolutely refuses to make adjustments.

Maybe they should try leaving a guy in the other half of the court and play defense with 4 vs 5? Trying stuff that don't have a chance in succeeding is worse than not trying stuff. You don't play zone against the best by far 3pt shooting team in the league. That's basic stuff. It's like dropping down the soap on purpose in prison showers just to see what will happen.
