Warriors Rejected Brooklyn's Offer Of Spencer Dinwiddie For Kelly Oubre

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:46 pm

The Brooklyn Nets offered Spencer Dinwiddie to the Golden State Warriors in a trade package for Kelly Oubre.

The Warriors rejected the offer as they continue to seek a playoff berth. Golden State evaluated numerous trade scenarios involving Oubre, but none materialized that would also help them in the short-term.

Dinwiddie is out for the season and can become a free agent in the offseason.

“I think a lot of people thought he might be available, but we value him, too, as evidenced by not trading him,” Bob Myers said of Oubre last week.

The Warriors should be tanking. They are a .500 team without Klay and even with him their run was over.

Tanking won't do us any good. It will make next year's recruitment of quality free agent/trade tougher for a title run when Klay comes back. We don't need more good-quality rookies with Wiseman, Paschall, Poole in the line up already, just need to keep developing them. Plus, we could get Wolf's pick if it falls out of top 3 and it's unprotected the season after.

I said it months ago, the Warriors have the most expensive payroll in the league, and might not make the play-in game, let alone the playoffs. Their core is past-prime, and only going to be worse next year. It's not even fair to count on Klay to come back from TWO season ending injuries and contribute at a positive level next year. He and his max deal are sunk cost at this point.

That said, who are they adding in the offseason? They're 5th in the ringchaser south chart AT BEST, behind both LA teams, Brooklyn and Philly.

Who is the potential superstar they should be tanking to get the # 1 pick for? Let them keep they’re trade able assets for next year, and if Klay can make it back, they’re one star forcing his way out of a mediocre roster away from competing.

We love the doubters because we love proving them wrong. We're winning it all next year.
