They'll have input but most of the top contending teams (as Beal wants to contend) have emptied their war chest of assets, especially draft capital. Miami won't go after Beal, they have Dipo now and no space. Nets are full lol. Knicks are far from contending. Lakers have nothing atm to trade with - no picks and who really wants Kuz? I think the teams that can conceivably put a solid bid in for Beal, would be the Pelicans and Raptors. Raptors might have the edge though as the Raptors will have a top ten pick in this years much ballyhooed draft .
It's strange how so many people keep saying that the Lakers have no picks, but we hardly hear about the Clippers and Heat who actually have no first round picks. By this summer, the Lakers will have the ability to trade a future first round pick outright and two swaps, which is more than most current contenders have to offer. They'll also have multiple second rounders available. By next trade deadline, they may have multiple quality players to trade as well, highlighted by a fast improving THT.
I do agree that the Pelicans and Raptors should be considered frontrunners for any Beal trade. The Pels have their war chest of draft picks and could potentially swap Ingram, while the Raptors potentially will have a lottery pick, future picks, and solid young players from their roster to offer.
Miami has a much better pick situation than the Lakers and better young piece too. Hero has a higher ceiling than talen Horton then you have achiuwa,kz okpala, Robinson rfa, Nunn rfa both small cap and oladipo in a sign and trade. Heat can trade all their picks starting on 2025, Lakers will need help with new Orleans and that is not beneficial to pelicans. Ultimately he decides but Miami package looks more appealing to wizards than anything the Lakers can offer. Let's not forget LeBron has 1 leg out of the lakes the moment his son gets drafted
I just went back through past comments, and we already discussed the Miami draft pick situation. The information is readily available, so don't take my word for it. Look it up yourself.
As for players with trade value, evaluating player values between the upcoming draft and trade deadlines is speculation, but I agree that Herro has a ton of upside, and currently is the best trade chip between the Heat and Lakers. I like Achiuwa's potential too. Okpala currently has zero trade value, and those other guys may or may not be tradeable depending on how free agency plays out. Sign and trade is very limited, so combining a bunch of free agents in exchange for one big salary doesn't work. Free agents are generally weak trade assets for this reason.
The Lakers don't seem like they would be in the mix for Beal until next trade deadline, when their players would be already signed, and the potential or lack thereof of their younger players will be more clear. By then it could be too late. We'll see.
