Honestly, I have no problem with Curry if he decides to bail. He's given this team and the fans a lot and he deserves to play for a contender. If the Warriors can't give him that then he should leave.
I hope he stays, but the Warriors may not be able to land the players they need to build the right supporting cast.

This is a very sensible, reasonable take.

I don't think anyone would ever treat Steph differently if he left. He's the GOAT Warrior no matter what, and he would never leave on bad terms. And if we put together trash teams around him for the next 2 years, nobody would blame him for leaving.
Luckily, I think we easily have the setup to keep him happy until he's 40. We can keep giving him the max as long as he wants it, and we have options to win now or even win soon with Wiseman and 2021/22 picks. It's still a very good time to be a Warrior fan.

You really only need a couple of things to build a winner. A superstar (check), an owner willing to spend (check), and luck (tbh).
I think we stand as good a chance to be competitive as anyone as long as Steph is in the building.
I wouldn't begrudge him wanting to leave but I could see him wanting to play for Charlotte for sentimental reasons more so than chasing rings. I *think* he thinks bigger than that. Steph is a special human being and I expect basketball is just the beginning of his legacy.

Re: Relax kids....Curry ain’t going nowhere!
WT article above says Warriors will discuss a 4-year $217 million extension.
That would take him to age 37-38, using up a big chunk of the cap.
OK he will continue to generate big money, once Chase is fully open and the team is competitive, though it's far from clear that they will ever be top contenders again.
If Curry turns out to be "worth" the big extension, it would be for off the court things, like selling tickets and jerseys, more than what he'd be able to do on court, once he hits the mid 30s.
He still has gravity and shoots at high efficiency. But he's not the type who can get buckets like he did in the 2016-2017 regular season. He can do it in some games and to do it he has to go to the hole. Still effective in the restricted area but it means subjecting his body more to injury risk or just wear and tear because he often ends up on the floor.
So he seems to pick spots, move the ball unless the shot is absolutely there or he can feel like he can take it to the hole, which seems less and less frequent.
So he's not going to play with the same usage or the ability to take over games like those MVP seasons again.
But it's probably worth it to keep him a Warrior his entire career, just that there won't be any cap space relief until he's retired.

I don't see Curry's happy face anymore. He seems to be frustrated all season long.

Great analysis.
For many fans, keeping Steph is the ultimate goal.
For Joe Lacob, the ultimate goal is to win championships.
Is keeping Steph and winning championships complimentary?
Also, would Steph want to stay on an "entertaining team (reminds me a lot of the nightmare years with the losers "Cohan-Mullin-Nelson" more interested in putting onto the floor an "entertaining product" than competing for a championship)," when he can team up with a LeBron James in Los Angeles or Kawaii Leonard, also in Los Angeles and compete for championships?

Houston tried the same thing with harden but losing will be caught up with the situation. Signs already there Curry getting frustrated. One day he might exploded like harden. You can't bottle up frustration forever.

Well, psychology is never described as armchair since it's just basic common sense not some exotic area where one pretends.

No, psychology is a scientific area of study and clinical practice requiring higher education and advanced training with a canonical body of knowledge dating back to antiquity. What you are describing is more accurately called “talking out of one’s ass”

My grandparents are pretty good at psychology due to their life experience. They have no formal training at pyschology. So, what do you say to that? Being rude won't help your cause.

I would say maybe your grandparents are good at ... feelings?
This is the epidemic of prideful ignorance plaguing this culture. Your intuition is not equal to someone else's education, training and professional expertise.

well, so far Curry is no LeBron demanding the team trade all the young guys...I think Curry is probably OK with the young players and Wiggins but I'm not so sure about Oubre.

Stephen Curry: Playing Whole Career With Warriors 'A Priority'
Stephen Curry can sign a contract extension with the Golden State Warriors during the offseason, or become a free agent after the 21-22 season.
Curry always reiterates that playing his whole career with the Warriors "is a priority."
"There's a heightened sense of urgency, as it should be, when you're a championship team that's trying to hold it together," Curry said. "Obviously, if you watched 'The Last Dance,' there's a lot of things in play in this league. Nothing is predictable. But that's what makes it fun.
"You have to have a perspective that you're good enough, capable enough to figure it out."
"He's so damn good we need to maximize him this stretch," Steve Kerr said. "You have to enjoy what he's doing as a fan, and appreciate what he's doing organizationally -- then do everything we can to build the best team around him. It's not like that's what we owe him, it's more like that's what we need to do."

Comments like the above are symptomatic of why Kerr ticks me off.
No Steve. It's what you owe him AND that what you need to do.

How many years do they offer him at super max?
Looks great this season carrying all the load but at age 36?
May be subject to injury and load management.

How much is a championship worth? They got him cheap and they're still getting him cheap. How much do you think he'd be worth on the open market without a salary cap?

But there isn't a salary cap.
Yeah I agree he's still going to be the best player on the team 3 years from now, barring serious injuries.
But he might not play 60 games by then and his minutes might go down below what they are now. How old was Nash when he went to the Lakers and barely played?
Ideally, the Warriors have a young player or two on the roster 3 years from now who are on the verge of stardom or at least playing at an all-star level.
Lacob will probably find that Curry will still sell a lot of tickets and jerseys, regardless of how competitive the team is.
