Beautiful spring weather in SE Wisconsin. Later we have 2 final four games followed by the Bucks. With a Brewers game overlapping both. Hope everyone can take advantage of the weather, get outside, bike, run, hike, walk or just sit and get fresh air.

So there's a fire in Milwaukee. Not far from Potawatomi casino.

It is absolutely shocking the amount of people who think that the air is smoky tonight miles and miles in the opposite direction of the wind because of this small fire.

The air is smoky west of Milwaukee tonight because Oklahoma is on fire.

Alright guys. Bought a house on a lake last year, been working a ton on cleaning up the yard as the previous owners let everything go. We have a wooded lot on both sides that can be pretty thick. Being in Wisconsin my whole life and having a family cabin up north have plenty experience with mosquitoes however now that we live here I am wondering what anyone does to keep them at bay along with other biting bugs.

I've read and done most of the steps like clearing brush (besides the wooded lots but will be working on clearing ground brush), eliminate standing water besides the lake. Going to try mosquito dunks, get picardin for skin protection. Heard some promising things on ovi traps. Looking to go a more natural way if possible since we have small kids and pets. Also looking to take care of no see ums.

If you're planning to rent a car on vacation this year rates are way up as expected. Rental companies were hit hard and their fleet sizes were reduced. I am finding rates at least double what I've paid in the past.

We will be going to the vet later this morning to have my cat put to sleep. He was the first pet I got after college and kept me company during the year I lived by myself. I've had him for 13 years. He could be a massive pain in the ass and had a spiteful streak to him but he really only ever wanted to be loved. As much as I enjoy having animals around, this part is almost enough to make me say no more.

You will be missed Big Kitty.

Could have been the menonomee falls fire, not sure when that was contained though. On that note I'm nervous for what the wildfire season here in Colorado brings. Last year my alley smelt like a camp fire for 2 months and the drought has only worsened.

I'm sorry for your loss, man. My family just had to put down their six year old kitty - their first cat - after a year of dealing with what was likely a cancer of some kind. It's never easy, but one thing I like to remind myself is that we gave these pets years of love and comfort and happiness, and they return the favor in kind, and their presence in our lives came at a time that we needed them most and they needed us the most. There's something special about that, and I hope the memories of Big Kitty sustain your in your grief.

So sorry my dude. We had to put our 17 year old cat down earlier this year. He’s was around for literally all our big moments. Still think he’s there in the corner of my eye like 3 times per day.

I never had a pet until my brother dumped 3 cats on me because his young son was allergic, and there was no other place to go for them. The best thing I ever did - they were like little kids in a lot of ways, but their lifespans are short, and it is hard at the end. Know that you gave him the great life he wouldn't have had if not for you.

This sucks mate.

My dog was diagnosed with a bone sarcoma in her jaw a month ago. The whole process of talking to the kids, having a conversation about what the vet said 2 weeks later at midnight with my wife and then second guessing everything I'd thought has been hard. The Vet said weeks. There was always an option to operate but it was in a terrible spot.

But she's happy and personality/eating the same, with a stinky occasionally bloody lump in her mouth. Got to make so many more great memories with
her and my boys.

This end stage is really hard, but I'm sure I'd do it again. So much love and great times together.

The Jim Brockmire podcast (he interviews Charles Barkley on today's episode) is legitimately hilarious. I laughed out loud a lot.
