Mavs lowkey play better defense without KP. It shows that Melli is a much more mobile defender in those PnR situations and can stay with his man 1v1.

But that was a great collective team effort on defense. I'm glad DFS came alive on offense aswell.

gotta love this game... regarding melli though..
i think this is the perfect game to show KP. it a great example of not letting your terrible shooting night affect your overall game. Melli didnt make a basket but his heart, hustle and positive energy out there made a huge impact. i think it was skinwade or harp who said during the 2ndqt that he loved Melli's vibe out there, he was pumping up teammates for great box outs and defensive efforts. that is what we need from our max player.. even the best shooters will have off nights just dont let it dictate everything else.

Great win! DFS was so great! Richardson, Brunson, THJ all were good. Melli was at least active on the boards and you felt his presence. I'm still not in love with him like a lot of people here.

Luka ends up having a good game even if he had 3 subpar quarters. :) 100% from the FT line! Still concerned about him being 5/15 from 2. It's not just against the Jazz, he's just not as good as last year around the rim. It's like he tries to avoid contact so much that he takes a tougher shot.

After this game I believe Mavs should at least try to trade KP. He's missing all the time and Mavs are not missing him that much.

28-21 not bad for a terrible team that had covid issues

This is how good the team looks without Porzingis... imagine what it looks like if we flipped him for someone that actually fits with Luka

sadly im leaning more and more with this.. because a few months ago the only thing that would make me want to trade KP is if he was willing to disregard Casey Smith and staff regarding his body.. but now just seeing how different the vibe is everytime hes gone is astounding. the difference is night and day. if there was a decent offer that brings in a guy whos all out hustle and heart then im fine with it.

Some people were being illogical when covid hit the team. They were always a playoffs team, it was only a matter of time. The problem is that they gave up so many games by sitting Luka, that they could still end up 7th no matter what they do. The Blazers and Nuggets are also hot right now.

The other problem is that we know they can be really good, but how can they be a real contender? They don't have a lot of assets to trade and no one is really out there to sign. I thought they missed another opportunity with Gordon who was probably available for Green and the 2025 pick.

I don't know what to think of KP anymore. I thought we would never get something better in a trade and we had to keep him and hope for the best... Now I don't know if that's true anymore. I wonder if the team isn't just better when he's not there and if trading him for anything wouldn't be a good move. Anyway, it won't happen this year. So let's hope bubble KP comes back.

and ofcourse with KP being out most likely for the next few games.. can we at least sign someone even on a 10day contract..
it is vital that we augment that frontcourt. teams better than us record wise are doing it, why not us especially when KP is out.

Didn't even notice Mavs had only 9 FTA and they had 22 FTA. Yet i felt Jazz were mauling them anytime they tried to attack the rim. Weird...

Mavs are also 18-4 in the last 22 games when Luka plays if i am not mistaken. Plus Player of the week

Exactly and there's nothing wrong with a 7 seed

3 seed was the ceiling
7 seed is the floor

This* is such a bizarre board - as an admitted outsider. You are, almost universally, soooooo negative about your team. Its beyond belief. Great game by the Mavs today - controlled the full strength Jazz every quarter. And KP adds to your team - just take it from me. Unreal.

* I've looked at other Mavs forums and they are just as bad. Something in the water in Dallas? I don't see this elsewhere.

Kp for sure doesn't help, if he isn't playing and he didn't play 18 games and counting.

The standard for Luka is top 3 player in the league and there's nothing wrong with that.

You don't say. The Nuggs are the best team itl right now, the Blazers with Nurk are unsurprisingly much much better than without him.

The latter just like the Mavs with a fit KP.

Idiocracy. The Mavs had him play two playoff games with the injury that needed surgery .. and then delayed the surgery (on the optimistic hope it wouldn't be necessary) on the possibly reasonable, but mistaken, belief the season wouldn't begin until mid February.

So ... your point is?

You are all just unremittingly negative across the whole board.

It's a bizarre fandom for me. I'm really curious if you can show me somewhere on the internet where you are positive and optimistic as Mavs fans.
