Careless turnovers, lazy fouls, waiting until there's almost no time left on the shot clock to start running play, actual AIR BALLS by guys who are practice assassins and a ton of missed assignments on the defensive end.

Imagine what this team could be if they came out with the same intensity & determination that Baylor did on Monday night. Wait, these guys are 'pros' and know that they will be waking up tomorrow with a loaded bank account and not in a dorm room after a night of praying that you just didn't play the last 'meaningful' game of your life. For once, I'd like to see all of the smiling & joking left at home and they show up po'd & not looking to be Mr. Nice Guys on the court.

I get where you're coming from. It does seem like going through the motions a lot of the time. Even Ainge has been quoted saying how he sees a lack of urgency.

But the Baylor comparison is a little bit of a reach. It's only natural that you might come out with a little more urgency when it's only the 33rd game you've played that season and it is literally the biggest game you will ever play in in your entire life, literally your life, your season depends on it and all everyone in your whole school you've been going to school with for the past 4 years is watching - that's different than a game which is the 51st game you've played so by this time of the season it's getting a little tedious (if it was baseball season right now would be the dog days of August), we're deep into the season but not quite the playoffs yet, and it's just another regular season game rather than the national championship..

Completely agree and I was significantly reaching with the Baylor comment. Chalk it up to be a frustrated fan who has no idea what it's like to be paid thousands of dollars per game and it being 'ok' to not leave it all on the floor for every game that I play. Heck, maybe they are and it just looks like a half-a$$ effort from where I'm sitting. I would just prefer to see these guys, for just one game, stop with the joking around and play with a chip on their shoulder. Not sure the exact game but I liked seeing JT's intensity on the possession, immediately following a legit hack job no-call, when he was going to prove his point and no one was going to stop him. You could just see it coming. Or...the intensity that they played with after Smart's half-court gaff against the Mavs the other night. They were embarrassed, took it personally and played the remainder of the game with that chip that I'm begging to see. I realize that these guys are adults and should be treated as such but just once...just once...I'd like to see Brad tear into them on the sideline. Embarrass the poop out of them and let's see how they react. I just can't deal with another one of their patented slow starts anymore.

We've managed to avoid many of those recently due to injuries/rest but tonight gives you the reality of the situation. Also, if your best player is Jaylen Brown you aren't going anywhere. He's got to have some of the worst hands and BBIQ in the league for a SG and is just an average defender now.
If I'm Nesmith I'm begging my agent to get me the hell out of here. Langford isn't it. And to lose minutes to him, Semi, and Grant Williams means Brad has something personal against him.
Don't worry, we'll face some more teams absent multiple starters so everyone can pretend TimeLord is special and we're golden now that Langford is back. Fret not.

LOL F**** off bro. Nesmith going to demand a trade??

The one thing worse than seeing the Celtics play rudderless is seeing takes like this. So much drivel in that post, it's not even worth addressing.

Yet here you are. I’m seldom wrong so not addressing my points is probably wise

I was really concerned when Tacko came in the game in the 1st half, but he actually didn't do horribly. It also looked like Embiid wanted nothing to do with possibly getting blocked by him and stayed mostly outside. His early entry in the 3rd Q was more of the same although they used Embiid to facilitate outside instead.

You're absurdly and comically wrong in this case.

You're just not going to be able to take away every scoring angle from the guy, especially now that he seems to finally "get it." You play Tacko because he makes it difficult for Embiid to get easy looks inside. I thought they should have tried to dump the ball into the post to Tacko on a couple of occasions. You are putting the time in the develop him, hoping he is a physical hinderance at the basket for the few giant centers you have to contend with in the league. But also he, in theory, should be able to cause problems as a scorer near the basket and force guys to foul him. To not have a focus on that part of it, is pretty dense.

You're going to give up threes to Embiid in this case. C's tried to mitigate that by keeping their big near the basket and having a wing fly at Embiid to at least feign a shot contest because Embiid would absolutely obliterate Tacko on a closeout drive. But you mix and match.

Posters were getting on Tacko in the game thread. I didn't (and don't) comprehend why. He serves a very limited purpose and I thought he delivered.
Thanks Brad for answering my ad,
"Boston Celtics Barbershop, cutters wanted."
But after KP, your C play? You broke my heart Fredo.

in what ways? Please enlighten me. I heard the same thing when I disagreed with the groupthink during the 2016 draft, when I hated the Kyrie trade, when I didn't think Fultz was generational, when I hated the Kemba signing, when I hated the scrubs taken in 2019, when I touted Pritchard, when I hated trading away the #30 pick. Things I've been wrong about are Jaylen being an all-star. But even then, it was a few hot shooting months that enabled that and he's reverted back to the guy who is clearly NOT an all-star. I'm not wrong about his handle, declining defense and low BBIQ though and never said he wasn't great. So explain all the ways I'm wrong.

Half the players you just listed have only ever been on the Celtics. So he gets credit for Tatum, Brown, and RW3 being good players? Not sure how you can make that claim when there's no way to prove that they wouldn't have been just as good (or better) on other teams. And by that logic I guess Brad deserves blame for every player who hasn't panned out?

As for Rozier, he actually improved as soon as he LEFT -- he's a terrible person to point to. IT certainly excelled here and is the best example you could make of someone thriving under Brad, though at least some of that was due to opportunity.

Horford's best days were before coming to Boston, though that's mostly due to age and not Brad's fault. Hayward unquestionably was worse here than he was in Utah and even this season in Charlotte. Blame it on injury if you want, but he's a horrible example if you're trying to say he makes players better. Same with Kemba... he was much better in Charlotte.

I think he should get credit for the development of rookies. You cannot underestimate the impact that coaching has on rookies. Remember, its not as if these guys were stars from day 1 in the league. Brown, Tatum and Robert Williams have all progressed to the level where they are currently at under Brad. With that being said, I do agree that he can be held somewhat accountable for players who have regressed.

Rozier was excellent in his last season with us! Do you not remember how well he performed in the playoffs when Kyrie and co. were injured? It was his effort that season that earned him his big money move to Charlotte. Al Horford improved as shooter in the time that he was here and expanded his game offensively; he was always good on the defensive end. Gordon Hayward got an unfortunate injury and had a magnificent season last year. He was never going to put up the sorts of numbers that he did in Utah because he had too many quality players around him. Conversely, at Utah the Jazz ran everything through him offensively as he was their no. 1 option.

I can only assume you're referring to his awesome last season when he put up these numbers:

9/4/3 on 39/35/78
6/4/2
No wait, you said postseason where he did this:

6/4/2 on 32/24/73

He then went on ESPN blasted the coach, blasted the team, and basically shot his way out of town. Performed SO well. Stud. You really do see things differently than most here.

Apologies. I was referring to his 2017-18 season where he was starting and averaging approximately 17-5-5. With regard to his ESPN interview and his comments. I do not agree with you that he blasted everyone. If you watch the interview all he really says and implies is that his talents suffered because of the playing time afforded to others. I do not really regard that as "blasting"; he is simply point out that the playing time he was being given did not do his talents justice. In the interview Max Kellerman and Stephen A. Smith are virtually putting words into his mouth and are trying to imply that he has personal issues with guys on the team. Ultimately, I viewed his interview as a sales pitch to other franchises given that he was a free agent and was looking to secure a top contract.

I think you are correct in your analysis of why Taco was brought into the game. The one thing that you want to do when a guy is constantly draining buckets is to mix up his looks to disrupt his rhythm. Making Embiid shoot over guy like Taco is extremely logical given that Embiid would not have been guarded by as many guys with Taco's height. Also, in terms of the inside game Embiid tends to get lazy at times and just run over the top of guys with his size. Having a guy like Taco there guarding the basket would have made that a lot more difficult.

You are right about Taco on offense too. I think if he can develop a hook shot then he is going to be a really effective offensive player given his height. The other thing that you can do is use him pick and roll and slip screen actions because he is always going to be a lob threat with his height.

I think guys on here like to pick on Taco purely because of a) his name and b) due to the fact that he has an ungainly physique and is not gifted in terms of mobility. I think that these deficiencies can be overcome in time, especially given the benefits of sports science and strength and conditioning in the modern NBA.
