Actually, Presti did it first - just drafted much better so the cycle ran shorter. Look at the team in KD's first year in the league, last year in Seattle. hehe.
Actually Kiki did it 1st, he tried to do it 3 years but Melo, Nene, and the other young guys were too good the 3rd year.
I believe it. Didn't mean to say Presti was the first first, just before Hinkie first.
Spurs did it for Duncan. And I'm sure there were others prior, it just isn't documented as well as it is today.

No, Houston was set on winning before Harden sabotaged everything. OKC is the real-real disgrace.

The draft lottery was created to stop tanking after having several teams tanked in 1984, the 1 year tank goes back through the history of the league. The multi-year tank started soon after, the openly doing it started with Kiki where he would state in interviews that the Nuggets were going to be terrible for a few years but we had to go through it due to lack of talent (after McDyess injured his knee)and assets. Presti was not as obvious about it as Kiki was, but did the exact same thing, HInkie was in a big market so he caught hell, but there is a reason Kiki has never gotten another GM job in the league.

You be the judge if Will Perdue and Dominique Wilkins were great tank commanders or not.
Robinson's so called injury got worse when the Spurs had a great chance to draft Duncan. Who led the tank? Popovich, who later came down from the FO to coach Duncan. Only problem was that the Spurs had a very good coach at the time, but Popovich fired him because he knew Duncan was on the horizon, and Robinson was healthy. Spurs have skeletons in their closet too.

LOL at nobody blatantly tanking in the 90s. Look at the Clippers rosters in the late 90s for example, it's high comedy. Their highest paid player was Stojko Vrankovic.

Why would they do this? So they can be a first round exit for the next few years? Ridiculous.
OKC is building up a great team. SGA, Dort, Poku, like 18 first rounders. It’s going to be much better for the league when they’re a contender in 5 years vs being a mediocre team for the next 10.

How the hell are the 70 percent of the squad injured? I thought medical technologies have advanced?
Plus, how the hell are the broadcast companies paying billions of dollars for this kind of product?
Please discuss.
And this is why I have zero sympathy for teams when players want out or demand a trade. This is the environment that NBA teams have created by blatantly tanking and being chicken **** with their trades.
Everyone from Adam Silver to the fans should have been up in arms when the Cavs sat a healthy Drummond. Next was Blake Griffin, Lamarcus Aldridge and the most egregious example is the Thunder sitting Horford. The NBA needs to heavily penalize teams for siting healthy players and holding out players with phantom injuries.

So they should blow up there plan to fight for the 8th seed. That is ridiculous. They are beat up by injuries and Presti has done an incredible job of finding guys that look like they are solid young role players. Giving these young guys extra minutes to develop is big for the future of the thunder. More importantly I highly doubt thunder fans have any issue with what is going on and that is all that matters. They love seeing Poku and Maledon get all these minutes as 19yr olds and showing massive potential.Big J wrote:The stockpiling OKC is doing bothers me. If you want to stop the 2024 dynasty you better start tanking too.

My point is it happens every year for the past 2-3 decades and has included just about every team in the NBA. Why is it a concern this year?

Dont hate the playa. NBA is a league that rewards losing, so of course there will be teams that will try to lose. They need to introduce relegation or change lottery rules where maybe best teams get best picks, or this will keep happening. NBA is fundamentally broken.

Because this time people are actually scared it will pay off. Their roster has tremendous potential NOW If they add nothing. People are just worried they will add a couple top 3 picks in stacked drafts and the dynasty may start even earlier, like 2023. Most famous tank teams like the Sixers didn’t really scare anyone.

There nba is bereft of attainable top end talent at the moment so Presto is banking on the next crop. Seems like a smart move

Complaining about tanking is dumb. Tanking isn't about losing. It's about winning. The idea that everyone needs to be playing the short game and going all out every game is silly. There isn't anything wrong with teams playing the long game.

NBA is also rewarding big market teams , helping them forming super teams, favoring refereeing etc, the only way for the small market teams is to build through the draft. Until NBA develop the system of fair competition for all teams, thats the only way to do it, OKC is doing an excellent job, and they will be competitive very soon.

Bradley is an awful player, he's going to be out of the league in a couple of seasons.

I guess the goal should be to fight hard for the 10 seed! Because something something integrity of the game lmao. Can’t let Minny have the fun every year! People weren’t mad about recent dynasty GS tanking!
