From personal experience MRI do not reveal everything. An injury can be blocked from view in an MRI. Sometimes they need to go inside and look.
Not getting a significant answer can be worse than finding a new injury. Because you can't fix something you do not know.

I'm listening to Ethan and Ira this morning talk on their radio show, so this is what I think is going on.
- Oladipo felt pain/discomfort and wants to find out why which ultimately will decide when he plays again.
- Nothing bad showed up on the x-ray or MRI but there could be things those 2 may have missed which is why Oladipo is going to a specialist for a second opinion.
- Seems that Oladipo "could" play at anytime with whatever pain/discomfort he has, but Oladipo wants a second opinion on what that pain/discomfort actually is. My guess, Miami is ok saying it's scar tissue, Oladipo's side wants to be sure with another opinion since he's not under contract next season. Ira mentioned a possible small surgery to clean up some scar tissue if that's the issue for pain/discomfort. Could play after the 4 game roundtrip, might shut it down or basically anything in-between. I think it's more of one of the extremes of coming back somewhat quickly or it being a long time.
- On retaining Oladipo, the more realistic contract off came from IRA saying 3 years around 20 mil per with the 3rd year only guaranteed based in games played in the previous season. Oladipo's current contract was signed in OKC at 4 years 21 mil per.
- Sounds like Oladipo playing again is all on him. He has to think about his long term career and impending free agency and also making Miami happy who he wants to be retained by. If Oladipo were signed for one more season rather then being a free agent, I think he'd be way better with coming back sooner.
