Tank Nation - tWo (3.0)

Post#1 » by Steelo Green » Thu Apr 15, 2021 3:05 am

Tough loss tonight but Cavs and Magic won so it's okay. We can do it ladies and gents!

We are accepting any and all new members! All creeds and colours. We do not discriminate. The more the merrier.

I assume the magic and Cavs are a non-issue.

Detroit/Min/Cleveland/Orlando just are bad enough/behind enough that there won't be enough random wins to make it a possibility.

The real race comes from Bulls/Wizards/Kings. These teams are trying..they want to win.

I think realistically Washington is the only team that will pass us. 7th worst is probably the best we will see since the Cavs and OKC are going to lose out the rest of the way.

Sacramento looks like they wont win another game for the rest of the season too.

We have by far the hardest schedule remaining after this next week of bball so hopefully by some fluke we end up in the Top 5, however unlikely...

Cavs are good, man. Now with Jarrett Allen back from concussion protocol, they have lots of young talent that will be trying to win as many games as possible.

Wizards with Beal back are much, much better, if only because he takes away shots from Westbrick. They're going for wins.

But the Kings and Bulls just can't seem to get it together. Bulls should fire Donovan immediately, and hire Adrian Griffin. Masai should offer him for free.

It was the last game of their five-game road trip (rodeo trip?) They had no mojo in the second half. Hey, ya can't lose 'em all.

Yes, but we've been resting players. Unfortunately, that came back to bite us big time.

Trent was obviously exhausted last game, front-rimming his threes. Better to play him tonight if we wanted to lose. But what point is getting nicer draft pick, if one of our stars tears his ACL?

A loss to the Spurs would have made wins against OKC and ORL absorbable. But winning potentially three straight while the Bulls flatline is rough. So you have to rely on competing for the 11th vs a Wizards team who’s pretty erratic.

You know the draft is a lottery right? Why don't you ask for some lottery luck?? Like even if we were the worst team in the nba, we have a 46% chance at pick 5

What exactly is your point?! Lol

It's all about the likelihood and the odds increase as you move up in the draft, that's just irrefutable.

Cade, Mobley and Suggs are the real prize I think.

Jalen Green seems like a potential meh player due to his size. Then, there will be like 4 other players thwt end up being really good and even better than some of the top 5 while being drafted later.

My hope is we end up with best player now and for future for this team wherever we draft.

This is the correct take. The Bulls are awful. I have a buddy who remains a hardcore fan from the 'chip years and we had the healthy "empty stats" debate when Vuc was traded. At the end of the day, he's another painful reminder to casuals that basketball is a zero-sum game - his stats (anybody's) only exist at the expense of other stats, and the only thing that matters is his domino-effect to everybody else while he's on the court.

Back to the point - the Raptors still don't have enough of the bad habits and tendencies that perpetually-bad teams have to make up for whatever talent deficiency might exist on a night-by-night basis. Again, for people who watched during the dark years, you'll see this stuff nightly with the Magic, Cavs, Pistons, Kings etc. It'll take A LOT for the Raps to be consistently worse than that (eg. fire Nurse, abandon a switching defense, sit OG for the rest of the season etc.)

Exactly why all the moaning after every win is unnecessary. We don't need the worst record to get a top pick
