Your fascination with a bottom-dwelling team is intriguing. Who hurt you, baby?

I defend the sustainability of the league's overall quality.

Dude already has logged a ton of games in the NBA, he needs to take it easy for a while. I think people conveniently forget that he was drafted into the NBA at age 9.

Re: OKC is Resting Their 21 Year Old Player.
So, if you're the TV guys, how do you not force the league to take a haircut the next time you're negotiating the TV deal(s) which has a direct impact on player salaries?
(Obviously this isn't related specifically to Dort but to the overall phenomenon of players not wanting to play.)
Just as the stars of the 80's and 90's laid the groundwork for the money players make now, players of this era are doing the opposite for those coming after them.

Shorter contracts have made it so that even bad contacts come off the books before your know it. In the early 2000's contracts could be up to 7 years in length and it wasn't abnormal to see so-so / one hit wonder free agents get 5 year deals that crippled a teams long-term flexibility when they didn't pan out.
(The upside to the longer deals is that it led to less player movement among top tier players)

nba turned into a shithole.
Cade Cunningham and SGA gonna be a top 3 backcourt in NBA history. I can’t wait.

It would be amazing if they drop out of the top 5. hopefully the basketball gods give them what they deserve.

IronflagNZ wrote:We have no choice. But rest assured OKC wont be able to tank for multiple years. We literally need a top 5 pick this year and then move onto being competitive from next season... SGA is too good and the team has fighting/winning spirit thanks to CP3's involvement last year = team wins more thank it should... Assuming we add a Top 5 pick who is pretty good off the bat, the team will be in danger of being a mid-lottery team from next season, so unless we want to sit everyone for another year we will have no choice but to just stick to being competitive.
SGA + Top 5 pick as your franchise two punch
Dort, Bazley, Pokusevski, Maledon as your nice young core
Mykhailuk, Kenny Hustle, + potentially these 3 Euro guys we got coming as your role players
Assuming Horford is still here next year, who will fit in perfectly with those guys
+ add vets from 2023 onwards
They'll just sit Horford and SGA again. Clearly Silver doesn't care

You’re right. The setting was perfect for Hinkie to go full process. So many overpaid role players, the rookie contracts, draft lottery & even the GLeague being a tool.
I used to hate it but I look back and realize he just took advantage of the rules in place

It will be interesting because OKC games 65, 68, and 69 are against the Kings who while not specifically tanking ought to be. By those games the Kings could well be mathematically eliminated. Those could be some ugly basketball games.

No thanks.
Seattle Supersonics sounds much much better.
Fwiw no need to move any teams. Expansion is the much preferred option.

Sealions? Then they can make it a theme, Seahawks, Seakrakens, Sealions... (and nobody cares about Mariners anyway)

Don't forget the lotto odds can be cruel. With the changes in the draft lottery, they Rockets' pick could slide out of the top 4 and fall down to 6th. 5th and lower would allow OKC to swap the Miami pick they own with the Rockets pick and the thought of getting 2 top 5 picks in this year's draft is a scary thought.
