We traded Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright, a 2015 first-round pick and a 2016 second-round pick for Powell. It is good that we finally got a solid game out of him.

Powell put on a show.
It's nice to see him productive but we need to see it more. Cuban and even ran on the court after the game to show respect to him.

Remaining games are all winnable and the Mavs proved they can beat everyone of these teams when they are on their A game.
BKN is the toughest remaining game and there is no other opponent that can really be much of a threat. The mavs have won 3 of their last 3, if they can finish up the season winning the remaining 12 that will be a 15 game winning streak to take into the playoffs. I would say that they are in position to contend and should easily get the 5th seed and if injuries further hurt Denver that seed could belong to Dallas as well.

SAC
GSW
DET
WAS
SAC
MIA 7th in East
BKN 1st in East
CLE
CLE
MEM 8th in West
NOP
TOR
MIN

By the way there may be a make up game that needs to be played and I do not recall who that game was against so if you know who it was let us all know. I say that because at 33 and 26 if we win these next 12 that puts us at 45 and 26 which is 71 games not the 72 that are on the schedule.

You have 13 games written above not 12. I like your over the top optimism haha

For me if they win 8 or more out of their last 13they have done good, if they win 7 that's a bare minimum and any less is bad.

yeah. DP has been playing great past few games.. gotta give him kudos.
Luka really does great paired with an excellent screen and roll guy.

maxi on the other hand might be the most deceptive 40% 3pt shooter out there. if u just simply look at box scores youd be amazed but watching him in games is upsetting sometimes, passing up open shots that his teammates worked hard to get him and missing wide ass open 3s..

Kleber seems to have a slow shooting motion. I feel like he needs to be wide open to take a shot.

Are people still asking, why Luka rather plays with others than KP?

Great win.

Let's not get carried away:
SAC - always has been a bad matchup for Mavs for some reason with or without Fox
GSW - again a bad matchup + GSW is fighting for a better spot
WAS - the team is on the roll + play-in is more than possible for them
MIA - trying to avoid a play-in
BKN - depends on who will be available for them
MEM - no explanation needed and a tough match-up in general
NOP - depends on where they will be in the standings at that point
TOR - fighting for life
So, at least 8 matchups, which could go either way.

Is that true that Luka would rather not play with KP or is this just hate speech?

Did you watch the 1st half? It wasn't pretty at all, Luka double teamed and frustrated and no option to pass out of the double team to.

And how would have KP helped?

Great win for so many reasons. It was ugly. It was against the Lakers. It meant they came back from 17 down. Beat Superstar Mclemore. Took advantage of the other team missing players. And finished strong. That hasn't been the type of game they usually win.

Luka's first half was disappointing. He's simply way too vital to allow himself to have some passages in games where he's giving the ball away/wasting energy with refs/just not himself. It was strange how long he/Mavs let that Lakers defense 'work'... there were some brutal moments in there --- did you see THJr just throw the ball out in the backcourt?

To come back from all that garbage in the 1st half was impressive.

My first mention goes to... DFS... who hit some big shots to "keep it under 17". He was already massively underpaid when his shooting was erratic... but jesus... this guy has looked ultra confident lately. Throwing dunks, hittings 3s, climbing on Drummond's back. I wish we had another DFS clone. Badly need it.

Thankfully there was still time to just calm down and methodically pick that defense apart.

Powell was awesome. Never rushed. Finished things so cleanly. Super impressive. Knew he'd have a great game at this point:

On the other hand, Maxi, despite finishing with 5 assists (!)... just has been off on offense. For some reason he now looks like he's 90 years old. Still does his job on defense and guess he can still hit 3s if he's wide open... but something's off with him for sure.

Need to start documenting these shots

Negatives:
THJr, Brunson and Maxi. They are all in some kind of funk on offense for the last several games.

Cameos:
Reddick again. Nicolo Melli - a block, a 3 and pushing the ball up to assist Powell.

Also:
Drummond. The guy's awareness or lack there of... is astounding. Not to single him out... but he's like a deer in the headlights.

Melli's defense is surprising, Reddick should stop the fancy passes, he's not that good of a passer.

That play, and the one where Luka was trapped in the corner by Drummond and Caruso(?) and threw the ball away, I turned it off and went to sleep.

7'3" man, who's a good shooter, with high catch/release point is great for breaking double teams.

Great game for Nico, hope he can give us 10/15 quality minutes on both side in the PO too.

I have been a critic of both but I will give both some.credit for their play as of late.
