Hey of course you can take note...but for me it's water under the bridge. We got IQ and are sitting at 4th place in the East. Not an excuse just an opinion.stuporman wrote:RHODEY wrote:stuporman wrote:
To be fair, as far as PGs or 'facilitators', Lamelo and Hali may be a couple of the best even in this year's draft but some did have the foresight about taking them if presented the opportunity.....
....which would have allowed them to have 3 cracks at big guard/wing in this draft which it is more stacked with.
An IQ-HB back court would be mind altering for Knicks fans, we'd be having an out of body experience right about now.
Right but if spotting talent was a sure thing, we'd have Hali and SGA and Donovan Mitchell etc. Im cool with IQ and the 4th seed and whats to come around the corner. I get a feeling that we wont be thinking about missing on Haliburton at that point.
So you think the empty rhetoric of 'no sure thing' is a good enough excuse for you?
For the better part of two decades the Knicks didn't have high draft picks because they were too good or they traded them giving away like free candy.
More recently they have a spotty record of picking, developing and retaining talent in the draft which is the number one way to getting star talent affordably.
Without doing a better job in the draft the Knicks will be a treadmill team at best even in the east, relying on FAs with their fickleness and high salaries is a dicier proposition.
You are welcome to make and be satisfied with excuses, I'm just going still point out the obvious that as far as the risk of doing business of the draft or FA, the draft has better potential to improve the team.
I see no problem with taking note of how the Knicks are doing on it and a more specific emphasis on what the current regime has done.... or didn't do.

You may see it as water under the bridge but since the FO that passed on Hali, who is exactly what the Knicks have needed for many years, are the ones currently still making decisions so we are still on that bridge...though it feels like one that has been the crumbling infrastructure of the Knicks franchise for decades they may not be that.
To me that means keeping the attention on their decisions and potential mistakes so they know we are watching what they do and will hold them accountable. If they want credit for IQ they also get criticism for Hali, it goes both ways, they don't get one while getting a pass on the other.
If they want credit for Thibs, the coaching staff, the 'culture change' and the roster construction that led to this season's success then we will also consider what they do this off season. They have gotten off to a promising start and with little to no expectations they have given the fan base some hope but the harder part is taking the next step.
...and the fans will be watching taking note of what they do.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right

Yep they are not immune to criticism. Whatever made them pass on Hali needs to be scrutinized. But I think more than any other time in recent history the FO will be in a position to do just that.

that's true that we'll take almost anyone over him but i am looking for a long term replacement also. we need to end this pg drought for good lol
our realistic options seem to be lonzo, schroder, (dinwiddie?). we'll def have to pay a lot for lonzo or schroder at least. not sure how i feel about dimwittie. not really interested in older players like conley, lowry. the only old player i would take on a short term deal would be chris paul but i am not sure how realistic that is.
