I saw the trailer and it was a let down.

BTW anyone know where I can find a SI Magazine of the 2019 Raptors Championship, I've been driving around looking for it everywhere.

Can anyone recommend an iptv? I'm looking into getting rid of cable but I need sports.

Hey all. Random question from a Suns fan.

When you had Leonard, what was everyone's mindset as the season went along? Did you think it was a sure thing you would reach the finals or was it nerves the whole way through the playoffs.
I know the Suns won't be favorites and that's fine, but I do see some similarities as we get a star (from out of nowhere) in Paul, to pair with our existing star. You guys had Siakam blow up that year and while our guys aren't at the same level, the Suns are getting improved output from Bridges and Ayton.

It's weird to think there's a real chance to win it all and I wonder if Raptors fans were extremely guarded in thinking a couple years ago could be your year. Thx!

(I ask because the Suns probably now have a 1-3 year window at best to break through. If it doesn't happen, chances are the team will be completely blown up and starting from scratch)

I can only speak for myself but you could feel the difference in the air when Kawhi was a Raptor. Sometimes I had to remind myself to just enjoy the games because there were a lot of what ifs. Since Lebron left East became wide open so expectations were we should win the East. Warriors were seen as undefeatable early on. But we also knew that when Zaza injured Kawhi Spurs were beating GSW pretty handily. So we were very cautiously optimistic.

Regular season was hard to enjoy because of a number of factors mostly because of Kawhi and the fact that in prior seasons, we did great in the regular season.

Playoffs were totally different. Every game was must watch and felt like we had a chance to win on any given night.

I had a ton of confidence each game, sometimes directly because of Leonard but often indirectly. To me, it came down to matchups.

Philly would've been a terrible matchup without Gasol, who was Embiid's daddy and just punked him all series. Pascal/Kyle/Freddy provided excellent D, and if you watched the games, Kawhi often didn't have to work as hard on that end and I think it positively impacted his scoring. On the flip-side, when Kawhi went into lockdown mode, it was a sight to behold - the combination of Kawhi's man-D on Giannis and Bud's inability to adapt + Giannis charging into traffic and not being an outside threat basically defined the Bucks series.

Kawhi was kind of like a swiss-army knife and elevated whatever part of his game he needed too, when needed. Like Freddy was THE defensive star vs. the Warriors. He's a great matchup vs. Steph. Pascal was a monster defensively much of the time, and Kawhi would take over when needed. And of course, Kawhi was there for moments like the quadruple-bounce, generational shot to kill the Sixers.

Man, what a magical run.

Thanks all.
I was in the hospital, getting IV fluid after being dehydrated following playing basketball, during the clinching game and was so happy Toronto won. It's the one sport where you could say 'I may never see my team win a title in my lifetime', simply because 1 player can turn a franchise into championship contenders for 5-10 years.
And with teams like the Lakers, who don't have to put in hard work to acquire stars, it ruins it for other teams.

I'm really hoping the LA teams meet in round one this year. Even if the Suns don't do win it all, it'd be nice to see one of them get bounced right away. Especially if it's the Lakers.

FTFY.

You're on the Raptors board. Clippers getting bounced in the first round and then Kawhi becoming a FA would justify this whole misbegotten season for us.

Personal opinion on the championship run season:

I thought we were the 2nd best team on paper prior to the season, based mostly on likely being an awesome defensive team that had a true superstar closer. When we added Gasol at the deadline, I thought we were a legitimate dark horse due to our defence (and FVV and Siakam emerging).

That said, I thought Bucks and 76ers were coin flips in the playoffs, I wasn't super confident at the time. I definately thought we were losing that Bucks series after dropping the first 2 games.

I honestly see more similarities to the Jazz from a stylistic perspective.

You guys don't really seem to be in the same situation as that raps team at all. We kinda had this cloud over the season knowing that we went all-in and were losing are pre age star that off season.

You have 3 guys in their primes locked up (Booker, Ayton and Bridges).

CP3 is more likely to resign with you guys then kawhi was with us IMO.

Plus, PG should be a relatively easy position to fill with a solid replacement. **** you could sign Lowry this summer for a couple years if CP3 doesn't resign.

To me it was apparently almost immediately that the team finally had 'it'. I wasn't always a fan of Kawhi's lack of passing or playmaking early on but he was a near impossible to guard isolation scorer. He could get a bucket whenever the team needed one and his dependability and composure oozed throughout the team.

When we landed Gasol I was convinced the team was a serious contender. They had everything and I think the roster is underappreciated. Defense, passing (Gasol), isolation scoring (kawhi), playmaking (Lowry), spacing (Green), and finishing(Siakam). And all of these guys fell into the other categories as well.

I've been screwed up for like 5 years (long story) and couldn't really enjoy the title run, my plan has always been to rewatch all the games at least. I was starting to get worried that that's been too long I fk'd up and that I should've downloaded them all 2 years ago and put them on a flashdrive or something, and it's going to be a pain in the ass to get things like the Orlando series, but somehow I found a torrent today 2 years later that has ALL the games and actually downloading fast. So I deleted a ton of stuff on my old laptop and now have it downloading an 89 GB file.
