This is very interesting discussion. What I mean is the all-nba discussion, for this year. I don't think he is first team, since in my opinion you want to reward winning. But we know he missed all-star game so does he have a chance to be on 3rd or 2nd team?

Guys who compete for all-nba honors this year on guard spots (did I miss someone?):
Doncic (58 games)
Lillard (59 games)
Curry (56)
Harden (42)
Irving (48)
Beal (55)
Booker (60)
Paul (63)
Mitchell (53)
Brown (58)
Young (56)

Westbrook (57)

Does missed games by Harden and Irving hurt them, does guys like Brown, Mitchell, Young, Paul get traction for such awards?

Can a guy averaging 22/11/11 on 44% shooting miss all-nba honors?

still stands, if russ was putting up 20 on 57 ts with those stats,I would be tempted to put him over dame.

Most under-appreciated star in NBA history.

What a statline

Gobert will be a deserving DPOY winner but man do I have a new respect for what Turner did for that Pacers team.

I love how every year Russ eventually gets going and makes everyone eat their words.

Sure but even the biggest statistical lines historically have come from pace inflated eras. Those huge stat lines in the 80s as well. Half of Mt Rushmore got their best years in pace inflated eras

Oh for sure and I know I’m gonna get attacked for that post. I just wanted to be realistic about his game. He was awesome for sure and I’m a big Fan of how hard Russ plays. Also gotta remember that the only guy over 6’8 out there tonight for Indy was sabonis. The wiz had like 90 points in the paint and had a ton of fast break points so there really wasn’t any kind of defensive resistance

You know you’re putting up numbers when you have twice as many 20 reb/20 ast games as Wilt. I hope he gets his 182nd triple double this season. That record seemed just as unbreakable as the most rebounds in a game growing up.

Players, analysts, former players respect Russ and understands how difficult it is to play like Russ.

Noteworthy Wizards set franchise record on assists (and tied NBA record on players on double digit points?) That was set like 50+? Years ago

Hold on... This is what Westbrook does. He has massive amounts of assists created on 2 point shots in the paint. He does that to every team.

Of course I’m not denying that. Just trying to point out how it was all exaggerated in the game today

I'm a Westbrook realist in that I was never dumb enough to buy his hype and was one of the first to point out how his ball joggers held teams back, but Great performance by him.

Incredible.

I keep waiting on Skiles' 30 assist record to be broken.

Wouldn't put it past Westbrook.

Nah No contender should touch him, his time with OKC and the Rockets showed the league that he won’t adjust his play to help his team.

The way he plays is very entertaining and statistically impressive, but it doesn’t stack up in the playoffs, we’ve seen it for nearly 15 years now.

seriously, Russ is a really special player... you can't change him, he is who he is... he took too much blames for playoff failures, I still think the Rockets make the right move to cater Russ' game ... he and Harden were rolling and the Rockets were sweeping teams before the COVID interruption... without COVID, a healthy Russ and Harden made Rockets a real contender last season... When Russ is healthy, he is a beast ...

Do you really think that any of the top Eastern Conference teams are concerned about Westbrook and the Wizards? Each of the Nets, 76ers and Bucks would expect to win that series in five-games max.

Unfortunately as with every year, his style of play is too predictable against elite teams to win championships. Allen Iverson 2.0
