Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
I think the Celtics will target another point guard or a power forward.
Pick is going to fall from 16-19 range I assume, so that is in the range of
PGs
Josh Giddey 6'8 PG out of Austrailia Tall, great court vision, solid shot, great rebounder, decent athleticism
;t=1s&ab_channel=Swish
Davion Mitchell - tenacious defender (marcus smart level) and speed for days. Can pass, handle and shoot. Dont think he lasts till we pick but I can hope we draft him
;ab_channel=MarchMadness
Ayo Dosunmu 6'5 pg/sg. Can handle the ball and play on or off it. could be a triple double any night. I am a big fan of this kid. Seems mocked pretty late which I think will make alot of teams upset they passed on him.
;ab_channel=Swish
PFs
Isaiah Todd - smooth, Finesse player. good form on outside shot, great speed on the perimeter. Makes no sense to me he is a late first early second rounder right now. Kid is a player.
;ab_channel=AIRHighlights
Jalen Johnson - a lot of talent here but health concerns
;ab_channel=HoopIntellect
Usman Garuba - Tough, hard nosed player learning a 3pt shot
;ab_channel=2for1Hoops
A guy that I think Danny picks though if he does drop will be
BJ Boston
Highly recruited out of high school, Shot poorly in college, has a high level of talent there though.

Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
I feel strongly that Chicago
*after losing their lotto pick, after losing the orlando trade
will look to make a big move this offseason, and I think that move will be for Kemba.
Kemba to Bulls (Get a PG who will improve them to playoffs)
Kemba/Lavine/Williams/Markannen/Vooch
Thad Young to Minny (Get a good vet player who can contribute right away and give them the PF they have been needing)
Russell/Beasley/Edwards/Young/KAT
Aminu and Rubio to Boston (get 2 expiring vets that will fill in and teach our young guys)
Rubio/Pritchard/Ayo (1st round pick)
Smart/Fournier/Romeo
Brown/Nesmith/Aminu
Tatum/Todd (2nd round pick)/G. Williams
Timelord/Thompson/Kornet

I feel strongly that, whatever Chicago does, it will not involve them taking back in a trade $6 mil. in salary more than they are legally allowed under the CBA.

https://tradenba.com/trade-machine
Works on trade nba under next years salaries
but if that is all it is then that is easy to remedy. Brown Jr has a team option for 5.1 million.

Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
Why would anyone want TBJ for 5.1 mil?
Boston is not taking on $15 mil of essentially dead salary so they can swap Kemba for a much worse player in Rubio.

I don’t watch college hoops, so I have no useful insight to offer. However, if they draft BJ Boston, I’m definitely picking up his road jersey. Having BOSTON on the front AND back kicks ass.

Would love to find a playmaker. IMO more than scoring or anything else, we need a guy who make life easier on his teammates. Unfortunately does not seem like there is a large swath of folks like that in this draft outside of Cade at the top.

Jalen Johnson has all the tools you could want in a basketball player and could be there when the Celtics pick, however I feel someone higher than us is gonna gamble on his raw talent. Kid has top 5 talent but the combo of a deep draft and all the nonsense at Duke is gonna drive him down to the late lotto/mid round area

Not looking at need, the players I like best in the mid first round are the combo guards.
Jaden Springer
Davion Mitchell
Tre Mann
Jared Butler
Cam Thomas
I also like Sharife Cooper and am intrigued by Greg Brown.
Cooper is the player I most covet in our range. I think he is gonna be a terror for opposing teams.

Always draft the BPA, but it sucks that it may be a shooting guard/combo since we don't have a big need for that position.
Wish there was a way to get Kemba + our first for Lonzo (SnT)
a Bigger Wing, center or play-maker gets us up another level IMO.

Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
They'll likely target a pg or combo guard. Unless Kemba plays really well in the playoffs, Ainge will likely look to move him. Also, Smart is an unrestricted free agent in a year, and Romeo, who could be a potential Smart replacement seems to be made of glass. Therefore they're pretty thin at pg.
The long-term pieces seem to be Rob Williams, Tatum, Brown, Nesmith, and Pritchard, who is can be a solid bench player. I think they bring back Fournier as a bench scorer and facilitator, but that probably means they try to trim payroll by moving Kemba. Also Ainge trading Thompson and the first for a 2nd rounder and a trade exception would a classic Ainge post Kyrie trade move.

Can't really argue your points except I do wonder about Smart and what they may do going forward. Keeping in mind they will be bringing over Yam, may not be able to trade Kemba, and Romeo may be more of a wing than a Combo guard.
but if they go Combo I want a long switch-able one.. no more little guys please.
Edit - I don't want anyone under 6'5.. switchable +talented at any position, bigger if possible.

Going BPA. First impressions of mock drafts is Ayo Dosunmo right now is mocked well below where he should go so he's my early binky.

Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
I do not see Jalen Johnson lasting to our pick. Although Vecenie has him going to Cetlics at 18 in his latest mock draft on theAthletic.
Josh Giddy seems interesting but I have never seen him play. His stats in Australia do look good, though.
If available at our pick I would go with Garuba. Terrific defender, would play him at small ball 5. Being only 18/19 and getting major minutes on one of the best teams in Europe is huge. I do expect him to become a decent shooter down the line, too.

Same. No clue how nba cap works, or if there's any way we could bring him in, but I'd 100% overpay for a guy like Lonzo on this team. He'd fit like a glove.

Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
Josh Giddey should be gone when we pick. Rich mans Kyle Anderson who believes he's Luka just seems like such a fashionable type and he's without doubt a big talent.
Needless to say I'd like to have him though. Only 18yo with great playmaking which we obviously need.

I'm not saying this exact trade is happening but this is the type of trade that should be considered. Don't forget part of this type of trade may help lockdown Fournier to stay on and it opens up possibilities with lopping off the final year of Kemba's contract.BK_2020 wrote:Why would anyone want TBJ for 5.1 mil?

Brad Stevens on fans who want the Celtics to tank: "I don’t think they’ll like me all that much then."

Getting drastically worse in 2021-22 is not worth getting off Kemba's contract a year early. Clearing Kemba gets us to $86 mil or something before cap holds, and if we want to keep Timelord and Smart that's $30 mil in cap holds already.
Also, with how Kemba has been playing recently, it's more likely than not that Kemba himself will be one of the top FA targets in 2022 free agency anyway.

Kemba and Brown to Indiana (Sabonis, Brogdon, Lamb)
Indiana restructures under a most likely new coach.
Kemba/Levert/Brown/Warren/Turner
Sabonis, Timelord and Romeo to Minny (KAT)
Minny resets and moves KAT before he demands out.
Rubio/Russell/Edwards/Sabonis/Timelord
KAT, Brogdon, Lamb to Boston
Championships
Brogdon/Pritchard/??
Smart/Lamb/Edwards
Fournier/Nesmith/??
Tatum/Parker/GrantW
KAT/Thompson/Kornet

Re: 2021 Craft Your Boston Celtics Draft Thread
Minny's not trading 3 years of KAT for 2 years of Sabonis because they are afraid KAT will ask out. There's going to be a lot of unprotected future picks going Minny's way if this trade is to happen.
