He had so much fun in that Indiana game last night. The pace was insane, neither team played much D and it was just tailor made for his strengths. His passing was ridiculously good throughout, he only took 8 shots, but he completely dominated offensively.

Not a great shooting night last night but another triple double (1 from tying Oscar career total) and a big win at Toronto to all but ensure their spot in the play in. Wizards are on fire right now, very fun to watch at the moment.

So far in May (granted just a 4 game sample) he’s averaging 25 pts 17 ast 16 reb on 56% TS. He’s the first player to register 50 assists and 50 rebounds in a 3 game span. Again it’s crazy how numb he is making everyone to this.

goatbrook!!
not the most efficient nor aesthetically pleasing player but a true force of nature.mister superfreak.
some unreal games boxscore-wise in this somewhat manipulated-for-boxscore era but hey...if it would be easy many would do it but only one does it.

This recent tear he’s on these aren’t even like triple doubles of the sneaking by variety. These aren’t normal triple doubles. He’s posting 15-15 (reb/ast) regularly. He’s not even sweating these and most games he has it locked up by the end of the 3rd. They’re 15-4 in their last 19 and he has been great. I can’t even nitpick at the TS% (though even that has been climbing of late) because the impact is clear. What he’s doing is frankly ridiculous but everyone is so numb to it at this point that it’s like barely a story.

Beal had a hammy last night though. Terrible timing with the play-in a week away. Hope he’s good to go

The most impressive thing to me is that he hasn't been shooting as much and it's really helped. More OMG and less WTF plays to quote another Wiz board poster.

Sucks that the game-winner didn't go in, but still, congrats to Russell WestGOAT on the new triple double record!

i worry being " the triple doubles guy" may reinforce the reputation of westbrook as a empty stats player if people remember him as a "gimmick player"

even analytics people often seem to handwave away advanced stats when it comes to him

westbrook co led near all time level okc teams with elite offenses (2013, 2016) but among most people. all the credit seems to be given to durant

as flawed of a player as west is, i think his best seasons and achievements dont receive a fair shake

Another triple double with 17 assists and one turnover. It seems he will average highest amount of assists per game since Stockton in mid 90s. I want to see him do this entire season. Hell try break Stockton's single season assist per game record. He is only player in the league capable of even trying that and would be major feather in his hat if he could do it.

I thought he was really poor in the playoffs, but the wizards just aren't a great team, and philly's length bothered him. The fact you can go under every screen on him and his rim finishing has seemingly fallen off from his prime levels really hurts him. Still a valuable playmaker, but obviously not valuable at that pricetag. I still think he has value in this league at a cheaper price

Is he ever going to remember how to shoot (either from the line or from three)?

he has to he getting old. FT% is whats most surprising, he used to be 84% FT. & then the following season he fell to 73% so sudden.

He's turning a modern day Fat Lever. But I still can't believe he got the mvp over Harden. Harden was much better player and took team to much better place, but he robbed. Look at those numbers :

Harden - +235 TSADD, 15 AP100, 8 TOP100, 1,6 ORBP100

West - +5 TSADD, 15 AP100, 8 TOP100, 2,4 ORBP100
.

Only aspect favors he, is offensive rebounding with +0,8 and makes about the half SRS a game. Look at that TSADD their scoring is not even in the same galaxy, Harden also had lower assisted rate than Westbrook. Playmaking seems equal. And Harden also played in 76 Poss a game while West played on 70,5 Poss a game; which adds almost a half SRS thinking their impact(+6/7, Harden was closer to 8 and West closer to 6, though).

Many people wrong with team's place and count it on Westbrook's impact. That team was a below average offensively. Westbrook was a net negative on the defensive end, tracking and impact metrics shows it. Their +1,5 over average defence was no relate with Westbrook. They would be a below %50W team with an even average defence, 35 wins Thunder would look Westbrook how much worse I wonder.

That team were trash without Westbrook arguement is actual trash. That team was +6,7 on the offence with only KD's exist, that's an ATG Off Team.

He was pretty great and impactful his mvp season but I thought harden deserved it because he also was elite and had the team record to boot ( which factors heavily usually) and rockets exceeded expectations more than the thunder (minor point).

I can. Westbrook was amazing that season and single-handedly carried an awful team. If you go back and look at that team, the only players who played any significant minutes and were a net-positive according to BPM were Westbrook (+11.1) and Kanter (+1.7). Everyone else getting any substantial minutes was underwater, and even Kanter was barely better than neutral. Bottom line, they couldn't do anything without Russ carrying them.

I would always prefer to see a historic season like that rewarded as opposed to Harden's flopping that artificially inflates his statistics in the regular season. Harden's numbers always need to have an asterisk on them because refs don't allow teams to guard him until the playoffs.
