Weaver went all in with his first draft, 3 first round draft picks! This will make it nearly impossible to hope for successive tanks. Adding to 3 first round picks - Grant and Plumlee have 3 year deals.

This is it, this is the Pistons 1 opportunity to tank. And Casey managed to **** it up.


Getting 3 first round picks is great. Hitting on them even better (Hayes is questionable). Piling on vets like Grant, Plumlee, Ellington, McGruder who are not down for the tank and get the Pistons a bunch of meaningless wins to a team that wants to go all youth and tank. That doesnt add up. They are two plans that train wreck into each other.

if you are being serious, no I wouldnt even trade it for Brown. This team is nowhere close to competing.

I mean the Celtics have a far far better roster surrounding Brown and are the 7th seed barely over .500

I don't want to pile on but I want you to reverse that.

Would you take Kemba and Smart for the #2 pick in what is being touted as a historic draft with 5 players that probably would have gone first in most other drafts?

really think about it. Apply it to your Celtics. Would you give up the #2 pick in the draft for an aging, not really all that good PG, and a hustle player? Would Danny do that?

The funniest thing about the celtics and Ainge is the nets have much better odds of winning the title for the next few years than they do. Danny karma ainge is done b^ttf^ck^ng his trade partners. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him canned this or next offseason

not gonna lie it is pretty satisfying to see ainge squander all those assets. they went from (borderline) contenders primed to be a dynasty with all their assets and now look like a treadmill team. they're capped out, have no picks besides their own which are going to be mid-first rounders and don't have any prospects that project to be all stars. tatum and brown are good but they aren't all-nba players which is a perfect recipe for a treadmill team.

obviously things can change in just a couple years but ainge is going to have to make a bold move at some point otherwise the celtics will be stuck in the middle of the eastern conference. the good thing for them is that they have two good wing players that are versatile defensively. those players might be the hardest to find when putting a roster together so that is a definite positive for them.

I would make the deal for KEmba and Brown for #2 in a heartbeat and would consider something around Kemba and Smart.

I do value smart very high though.

I think Kemba and Brown make a lethal trio with Grant. But maybe that is just me.

And as Pistons fans we kinda like the idea of Cade/Suggs/Green and Hayes/Bey better than what we have now, meaning the Pistons can get better without also helping the Celtics improve. Which is pretty much the goal if possible--get better without helping a competitor get better at the same time.

I would want the Pistons to be circumspect about trading any of the kids right off. It would have to be a swap of compelling youngsters and not one of our promising rookies for plateaued vets, at best.

We aren’t trading for vets. I can’t read Weaver’s mind and don’t know his master plan, but it’s blatantly obvious we’re trying to build through the draft, reclamation projects, and development. Once we have a playoff year and all of Blake’s money is gone, then maybe we add a big piece that fits. But it’s just way too early for that.

Hell of a team? We would be worse than you guys still and you're a playin team. Pistons are in tanking position why would we want to "easily make the playoffs" with no upside to win titles?

Nobody wants your damaged players. Ainge should of ponied up more stuff when guys like Harden and Leonard were on the table. Instead he held all the goods and now you guys arent in the elite grouping of Eastern conf teams anymore.

The more I read about Jalen Green the more I think he should be the #2 option for the Pistons. Plus he has G-League experience and I'd take that over a college one-and-done. Preferred order if they're available when the Pistons pick:

#1 - Cade
#2 - Green
#3 - Suggs, with the idea that between him and Hayes, someone is going to be PG and someone is going to be SG, or maybe both
#4 - Obviously Mobley

Flip Green and Suggs and I think that one of those two scenarios is the order those players are going to be picked regardless of who's picking.

I like our pgs. I'm different from most fans in that I don't believe you need a star point guard to win a championship, you just need defense and high iq at the pG position. I'm comfortable with Killian/Saben going forward.

So with that, everything else this team needs is talent, defense and shooting at the wing and big positions.

With that in mind I've come up with a focused list. Not a regular talent based board, just guys I think would be useful in team building.
