Curry’s run to end the season earns him the MVP. Teams feared Steph Curry and Curry went off. Nobody fears Jokic.

Currys run to end the season earns him the #3 in the MVP race. He might even get one or two #1 votes.

Jokić gets 90% or more #1 votes.

Windhorst (a massive Embiid fanboy this year and one of the ~10% who was non-Jokic in the last straw poll) just ended up voting Jokic. We might have another unanimous MVP on our hands. If it's not unanimous it will be just a vote or two shy.

This will be the 3rd straight season in which a non american gets the MVP.
Luka and Embiid are next.
How much the game has changed.
Dream Team's legacy in '92 made this game the best sport ever. Thank you MJ.

I hope not considering 7 months ago he did not even know that Nurkic and Jokic were 2 different people, and that Nurkic had not played for the Nuggets in years at that point.

I think Curry should be 4th at best although I would put him 5th, Giannis should be 2nd, Dame Lillard should be 3rd, then it comes down to Curry or Embiid, and I think Embiid had the better season even being injured.

The way people are talking about Curry, you'd think he has a way worse team than Jokic and beats him in most statistical categories. Jokics has a pretty awful team around him via injuries, has better normal stats than Curry with the exception of ppg, and most advanced stats favor him as well. And of course, the Nuggets have a considerably better record. This is a no brainer.

I wasn’t arguing one way or another, just stating the facts.

Right now, 30 out 30 voters that have expressed who they are going to pick are all saying Jokic. Curry is #3 behind Embiid,

Right now, have to give it to Jokic. He has been fantastic all season, and he plays almost every game. Being available does count, all other things being equal. Embiid is second for me. Without him, the Sixers don't get the number one seed, and I don't think they (or any EC team) have a chance to beat the Nets and get to the finals without HCA. Curry is third--can't deny what he has done the second half of the season. No one else is on my radar for the award.

I'm tired of hearing the argument against Curry being the fact that his play only got the Warriors to the play-in. Thats false. The Warriors have a 5 seed record when Steph is on the court.

Curry would likely be 1st if he avoided that tailbone injury and had a chance to get the Warriors into the top 6, but durability matters, so Jokic gets the nod.

I'd have it:
1. Jokic
2. Curry
3. Giannis
4. Embiid
5. Gobert

Warriors have a 58% winning percentage with Curry. They went 2-7 without him; with him, the 58% would put them at 5-4, giving them the same record as Mavs, Blazers and Lakers. However, as the GSW would lose the tiebreakers against those 3 teams, they would end up all the way back at #8 - same place they are in now.

I get what you're saying, but I don't think you can just assume what would happen in those games he missed. Which is why I can't put him 1st in MVP ranking even though I think that he would have swung alot of those games in the Warriors favor and been right in the mix with those teams battling for the 5/6.

What we do know as fact is that the Warriors have a win percentage of a 5 seed when he has played. How those 7 losses would have gone with Steph we will never know. We do know Jokic was an iron man and available all year while playing at an incredibly MVP worthy level. So he's my vote for MVP.

It seems Jokic is going to win the award, but I think I should post one more interesting thing about his season that wasn't mentioned here. As we all know he played in all 72 games.
There is only one Nuggets player that missed less than 10 games

- Facundo Campazzo, played in 65 games - undrafted rookie backup PG

Than we have a group of players that missed 10-20 games

- Michael Porter junior, played in 61 games - sophomore starting SF
- JaMychal Green, played in 58 games - backup PF
- Paul Millsap, played in 58 games - backup PF/C
- Will Barton, played in 56 games - starting SG

That is the list of Nuggets players that missed less than 20 games. And we were talking about carrying job...

This spreadsheet is keeping track of announced votes and Jokic is 12/12 for MVp so far.

Jokic 32/32 first place votes so far

Interesting lillard for first team right now but only limited votes so far. Gobert third team
