I feel like that was the narrative if we missed the playoffs. That 'opportunity' is now lost.

Getting stomped by the Nets (who might well go on to win the title, or at least represent the East in the finals) is unfortunately going to generate nothing but some shrugs, and management saying "if we're just HEALTHY next season, then we're not going to be the 7th seed, then we've got a chance, and keep in mind Fournier will have the chance to go through training camp with us, and Tristan Thompson too, he started last year with a bad hammy so never got a chance from the jump to get integrated with what we try to do, and Grant Williams will have another season of professional experience under his belt ... season tickets on sale now banner 18!"

I thought the same way until I saw the "performance" last night. Every single player tapped out after the tipoff. They're done. If there was a way to forfeit the next two games the majority of this roster would. Just a bunch of jobbers on this roster. Think of this Celtics team as Iron Mike Sharpe or the Brooklyn Brawler and the Nets as the Ultimate Warrior. However instead of a 1 minute job its 3 hours of hell. Please blow this cesspool of a team up and take management with them.

Danny traded three starters from the 2017 ECF team so I don't rule out the likelihood that he could do something like that again at any time.

But once we made the playoffs the PR line of "it was just an unlucky year" became pre-destined. Everyone got cover, everyone got a free pass. And it's already being deployed. You may not like it (I don't) but get ready to hear it A LOT this summer. "If ONLY we had Jaylen who knows how it would have turned out?" We could lose games 3 and 4 at home by 50 points apiece and that's still all that the coaches/management/owners would say. Plus Evan Fournier hasn't even had a training camp with us yet! Banner 18! Season tickets on sale now!

Modding here is something we do in our extra time, we all have jobs/lives, and sometimes it will take awhile to see a report.

You’re not wrong though, this thread has been garbage.

I won't claim to have much personal experience or knowledge, but when people throw words like racism around to mask other issues they give those who want to keep minority groups down ammunition. It also clouds the issue and takes away from the important points.

Don't get me wrong, I imagine all black players have copped racist comments everywhere including Kyrie in Boston, but this is a classic case of Kyrie not being able to admit when he's done things wrong and deflecting.

It's poor form on many fronts but not surprising from him.

Sadly, it's in some ways a smart move to reframe the conversation.

Not much to say about game 2, other than I want Brad to be more daring.

This is not okay man, I’m all for blasting Kyrie, but NONE of us can pretend to know what he has dealt with here, and chances are he wasn’t masking anything.

Yes, people can say racism is a problem everywhere, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that it’s a big problem in Boston. And it is, which is ******* embarrassing for a town that considers itself progressive. We need to be better, and writing off Kyrie’s comment as him trying to use racism as a deflection is part of the problem.

The pasta shape thread is the best one on here over the last few days, which is pretty telling.

Nah I know, you were right in reporting the posts. I just was giving a more general explanation as to why it may take time for us to see them and deal with it.

No worries.

Just wait until I start the elimination tournament after game 3. Right now we're looking at a likely rigatoni vs. spaghetti matchup in round one. **** is going to pop off.

Anyway I had a longer take on the Kyrie comments in the general NBA forum, but basically I think he is insinuating a pretty specific accusation that Boston fans yell racist epithets at opponents rather than a more general "Boston is a racist city" type accusation. We know it's true that at least DMC got called the n word a couple years ago, and I'm sure it happened to other players too but didn't get reported or nobody was caught. It sucks that Kyrie made these insinuations so vague so that nobody can tell the frequency at which this happens and whether it is something he personally witnessed or if he has just heard rumors or has some indirect perception about, and it also sucks that he brought it up in the middle of a heated playoff series instead of at any other point during the past few years. But that doesn't mean that it doesn't ever happen, and if this is a pattern that other players can confirm they are experiencing, then we should be dedicating a lot of resources to stepping up security and educating our fans to speak up about anything they see so we can identify and ban as many racist fans as possible. We owe a debt of gratitude to DMC for outing one of these weasels, and I would love if more players, fans, and security could identify any remaining ones so we can be rid of them.

Ok my bad.

I appreciate your response because as someone not from Boston it’s good to understand there’s more to it than Kyrie being Kyrie. It helps me learn a little more about the issues there and that can help me be more understanding.

While I agree with everything you said Kyrie himself a year and a half ago said he never experienced anything himself, so we kind of do know part of his history. And national media commenters like Steven A have shared this opinion of him using race to deflect, so I don’t think it’s crazy to assume, especially with his past.
