Aussie and Sixers fans checking. You guys were easily top 3 most watchable teams when fit and firing, we have a guy called Giddey whose a homegrown product. He might be there at pick 12# who knows but a lineup with Ball + Giddey would be so much fun to watch.

Last year our move from 8 to 3 was the biggest, but the year prior (the first with the new system) the Lakers jumped from 11 to 4.

(The pick was eventually traded to New Orleans as part of the Anthony Davis deal, then traded again to Atlanta).

Oddly enough that 8 slot has been the place to be under the new system, with the teams starting there pre-lottery eventually walking away with Ja Morant and LaMelo Ball.

It's again kind of an interesting spot: if it moves up it stays with Chicago, but otherwise it goes to Orlando.

FWIW - because the teams tied - their lottery odds are split evenly, this just determines who picks where should neither team move.

Disagree.

We need a shooter, ideally 3&D with good size, next to LaMelo - not a poor shooting mini version of LaMelo next to LaMelo - which is what Giddey seems to be.

It's kinda a bummer we don't get the full lottery odds of the 11th pick. Although I guess it ain't that much of a drop from 9.41% to 8.5% to move up

Perhaps a Rich Mans Cody Zeller?!

Here we go. Didn't know he was so young.

That's the guy I want if he is still there. A super mobile floor running big with handles? Excellent fit with Ball. We can get a defensive shot blocker as his back up via FA.

He's my preference of we don't move up. Adding a 6-8 secondary playmaker could be really valuable

I think it would be a great pick up. You can’t have to many guys with size, handle and passing ability.

Guide to lotto drafting in the modern era:

1 don’t draft bigs in the lotto unless they are A Davis or Embiid elite types

2 skill >>>>> athleticism

That’s true but you can’t deny the fun aspect, and the upside if the shooting comes around :) he’s the best passer in the draft and has a legit case for being the best pure PG too at 6”8” running the second bench unit or a Trio of Hayward/Lamelo/Giddey is fun fun fun!

Assuming none of the teams below move up in the draft and we aren't in love with anyone in the 11 range..

Would anyone be in favour of trading down in the first round? Something like...
CHA trades #11 & #56 OR #57 to OKC for #18 and #35 and #36? (OKC needs to consolidate its plethora of picks as they won't have enough roster spots eventually)
OR
CHA trades #11 to NYK for #19 and #32 (I'd ask for #19 and #21 from NYK but that might be slightly unrealistic lol)

Early second round picks are a good spot to take a flyer on someone.

EDITED OUR PICK FROM #12 TO #11 DUE TO WINNING TIEBREAKER WITH SPURS

I would!
imo we need to stockpile as much young talent suitable around Lamelo as possible

I probably would unless someone Mitch absolutely loves is available at 11. Give NY our late second rounders as well and maybe they bite at 19/21.

Went back and referenced this old exercise done on 82 games where they attempted to provide a rough predictive analysis of player success relative to draft position. However flawed (and old) the model, there's obviously some degree of underlying truth in it. Interesting that, according to the breakdown, the chances of landing a good player at 11 aren't that much better than at 19. So, landing 19 and 21 for 11 would be a statistically shrewd move. Now, personally? I'd take BPA at 11, but I've never been accused of being statistically shrewd. :D

I have Giddey as 1 and Mitchell at 2 if we are at 11. I'd be cool with either.

This draft is wild. There seems to be good consensus on maybe 6 guys ... and after that draft boards are all over the place. I've seen guys like Moses Moody mocked/ranked anywhere from 6 to 18.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Looking forward to that UNC guy's yearly draft emergence, so he can spice this place up.

The Rockets had the worst record by 3 games but have a 48% chance of losing their pick altogether. If it falls to 5 it goes to OKC, which has about a 20% chance at two top-5 picks.

Golden State can also do that, but they'd have to move up from 14 *and* have the Minnesota pick land at precisely pick 4 (how did they get top 3 protection instead of 4?). Things that look strange: GS gets that pick if it lands at 4, 6-10; but 5 is impossible.

Orlando will also likely have two picks in the lottery, but the highest their Bulls pick can be is 8th (because the Bulls were smart enough to get top-4 protection). The odds of 8 moving up are only about 20%, but it's happened in each of the two years under the new system.
