Who got better this year?
Jimmy - No
Bam - Hell no
Herro - No
Nunn- maybe slightly
Duncan - No, maybe a hair
Precious - No
KZ - No

are we better at anything- no
Spo cant win unless we have way more talent (prior to them getting on the Heat) than other teams and that is not happening right now.

BEst we can do is try to develop and discard players that progress and dont progress. Time to move on from Herro as Spo might have lost him. Probably lost Belly too and any other player on the bench that cant see any minutes. Dedmon might want back in or might take a payday somewhere else. I dont see any one player out there that is going to make us winners. Next year is a find your soul year imo.
1. Herro 2. Bol Bol 3. Seko 4. Bruno
unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

Sadly, I don't think in today's NBA Jimmy + Bam are enough of a 2 star-combo to go all the way. Not enough natural scoring and not imposing enough physically.

Lebron and AD, Giannis + Middlton + Jrue, Harden + KD + Kyrie. Those are championships cores.
I agree until Bam makes another leap or find a true 1, the Heat need four all-stars. Finding a 3rd and hope Herro can start trending back up. And if Nunn and Duncan can develop become elite role players I thinks the most plausible route. Even thou Butler is not elite star he is still a closer. Stay on course for another year. Then reevaluate.

I think some fans don't realize how hard it will be to get back to even last years talent level ... since Bam is off his rookie deal, and Robinson and Nunn will be too. Unless Herro can fill the role that Dragic did, it'll be hard even coming close.

Basically a lot more salary for the same output or worse.

Basically we're screwed.

Yeah. I try not to knee jerk to any situation but it definitely looks like that treadmill is coming our way. If we sign our guys, we're screwed.

We'd have to get a whale, which is definitely fantasy stuff.

We aren't going to flip anyone for assets either.

Settle in on that treadmill fellas.

You gotta trade him. That extension is the stuff of nightmares.

Jimmy is looking to sign a 4-yr, 181M extension.
Are you guys willing to pay him that much money?

trade him for who? If you aren't getting a star in return is it even worth it? We saw what happens when this team gets lead by Pebbles. Jimmy is the engine.

Never count out Riley to pull off some unexpected trade. We just need the Godfather version, not the guy that hands out contracts to guys off one good year for us. We did that with Whiteside, JJ, Tyler Johnson, etc.

Cmon Riley, pull of a trade for Dame Lillard and then ride off into the sunset in Malibu.

One can dream...

Raptor fan here. Lurking. Thought i could bring some perspective here, having seen him develop over the years n all.

The a answer is No. Absolutely not.

He doesn't have a playmaking bone in his body. He has a rare 3 assist game and it makes u go "Oh hey thats a bonus. Nice". What he excels at is finishing plays and creating for himself. Not making plays and creating for others.

Carry on...

Thanks for the input, I have been doing some analysis on him for the past few days. Wasnt familiar with him but he has caught my attention in a some games with the Blazers especially in the playoffs. I see he is not a point guard, which is fine if his scoring still has potential to be even better and if he can help bring the ball up vs press defense. So I will keep watching him to see what his scoring potential may be.
Also if you can chime in on his defense? I reading a lot of praise from Portland about his defense.

So ideally the roles would be;

PG: Butler - Nunn - Oladipo
SG: Powell - Herro
SF: Robinson - Strus
PF: Nance - O. Porter - Okpala
Ce: Adebayo - Dedmon
Its all about perspective. The Raptors are a really good defensive team and a lot of times we viewed powell as a potential weak spot but thats only because he was an average to above average defender surrounded by good to great defenders. Hes fine defensively but prone to mental errors at times.

Now u add an above average defender to a team like the blazers who were all time bad defensively, and he looks like scottie pippen to that fanbase.

If that makes sense.

I also want to add powell is 6'3/6'4 but he has elite wingspan. Hes very long. Doesn't play his size.

Do we honestly have a choice? He can force a trade and kill any value. Granted Pg-13 got a max extension after his bad playoff performance, it should be noted that his Butler this playoff made Pandemic P look like an MVP player, thats how horrible Butler was. Maybe its to make a point, maybe he wants out. Either way we basically have to sign him if we want to trade him later down the road for value.

Ethan Skolnick says Nemja Bjelica has no chance of returning. Heat haven’t been happy with him since the trade.

He’s one of those players that had quite the following on here pre-trade and I never really was plugged in as to why or how. Im glad he wont be back.l, although i’d be curious as to why they were so unhappy. Wasnt like he had time to get into Heat shape lol

Ethan also expects the Heat to move on from Oladipo unless he takes the minimum.

That's not going to happen. This is not an unforeseen circumstance. We knew this was coming before we even traded for him. This is the horse we bet on and it's the one we're going to ride.

Just hope the cap rises faster.

I figured there was some sort of issue given how little of a chance he got after first arriving here. Especially when he didn’t play in Game 4 after putting on a little bit of a 3 point show in garbage time Game 3 (although he was getting torched on D even in garbage time).

That Jimmy extension is a nightmare. Not sure I see a better plan than giving it to him but it’s definitely more of a “rock and a hard place” type situation. That’s a bad contract the second he signs it IMO.

We were riding high last off-season with our cap sheet in a good spot, young assets, filler contracts to make moves, etc. Just goes to show how much can change in (less than) a year.

We have almost no picks to trade for a long time. Something to think about when coming up with lavish trades.

Nah from 2022 and on we have everyone of our picks except 2023.
We can Swap picks in 2024 and 2026 and offer our picks in 2022(most likely the nets pick), 2025 AND 2027. May not be the greatest draft pick haul  but all of that plus Herro and Precious is a good offer.
