Lakers championship last year was a Covid inspired fluke. They aren't that good.

Every year it’s the same thing with a Lebron team. Then he ends up in the finals.

I expect the same again.

ya, i don't know what it is with their team. Vuc has been his solid self 22, 12, 4 with 1 steal 1 block per game. and shooting 39% from 3. but he's been a negative on the floor so far for both teams.

but the success factor for most teams is the guard play. I would say Orlando and Chicago have pretty mediocre guard play overall.

Trae Young and the Hawks are a fun team. I said at the beginning of the year this was a top seeded team if they dumped their coach. With McMillan they have been unleashed. So much shooting around a great ballhandler and scorer. NY an elite defense is struggling to keep up with him.

If Toronto would get a guy like Sharife Cooper, we have the shooting and defense around him to be a superior version of the Hawks.

The Hawks are now miles ahead of the Raptors.

They are a team that has the pieces to make a move for a superstar. Have star players, role players, depth, draft picks, they could go after say a Giannis or Kawhi if ever available via trade and not be left with a just as good team if they did the deal.

This is what has been discussed. Raptors aren’t even in the realm of what they are. Hunter, and Reddish still haven’t even gotten a full chance yet.

Knicks and Hawks don't beat a healthy Raptors team in a best of 7 series. They are both taking a step back next year when the world becomes normal again.

hawks have like a 4 year head start on a retool/rebuild on the raptors, and that being said, the gap between the raptors and hawks isnt that great.

hawks and raptors were in same spot 3-4 years ago, raptors chose to go all in, hawks chose to rebuild.

guess who had the last laugh.

i called you out recently on using the magic as the boogeyman, now you are using the hawks, in your eyes the raptors have mistepped a few times are way further behind they the general consensus of this board and league.

Raptors already won their championship while the Hawks have been rebuilding. We are actually the ones ahead.

Are you saying the Pistons are ahead of us because they have three titles?

Hawks have simply way more talent than us and are only getting better. They’re nothing like the Demar/Kyle years, all their players are 25 or under minus a few. They’re going to be good for a very long time.

What last laugh? The title is done. People need to stop living in past glory. There was a whole thread saying we are way better before the season started and many said they’re about to blow up.

Magic? What boogeyman are you talking about? I didn’t say anything about the Magic recently other than if they add a top pick they could make the playoffs.

Yeah, this. Imagine the Knicks fans saying, "it doesn't matter how we do, we already won the championship in 1973". :meditate:

In terms of title counts, yes, the Pistons are ahead of us with that. The whole goal is to win championships, right?

That's a bad comparison, the Pistons last won a championship over 15 years ago and are on their third GM after Dumars, we won 2 years ago with the same current regime. But luckily for you Masai is thinking the same way, the past is the past and it's time to get another one.

It’s not about getting a title ASAP. It’s about prepping for the next one.

I don’t think this core is it and will lead us no where.

Pascal and Fred are not stars in this league and teams with 2 stars are not even winning.

For me we could miss the playoffs again with this group next year so might as well sell them, get picks and get another really good pick, maybe top 5 and you have the foundation for the future along with OG.

I get what you're saying since Trae Young is a bonafide All Star, but let's wait til they win a playoff series (which they probably will do against the Knicks) before proclaiming them to be ahead of the current Raptors core, plus we got a potential top 7 pick coming up so it depends alot on that too, we might get our Trae Young in the upcoming draft.

Yeah, this. Imagine the Knicks fans saying, "it doesn't matter how we do, we already won the championship in 1973". :meditate:

What you're implying is so stupid because...

* Between 2015 and 2017, the Hawks and the Raptors have won 50.3 and 52 games per season, respectively.
* They had both failed to meet expectations in the play-offs.
* The Hawks have decided to blow it up in 2018, while the Raptors went all in in 2019 and won a title as a result.
* It's obvious and completely natural that they're a few steps ahead in rebuilding process as their future star player was a rookie back when we won a ****ing title.
* Nobody's talking about 1973.
* You guys want to have your cake and eat it, too.

For the life of me, I can't understand what Steelo Green and the likes would have preferred the front office to do. Barring extraordinary circumstances, NBA rules prevent teams from contending for a title and drafting future star players at the same time.

There's no telling that this won't be another tank season in disguise. We don't need to sell low on our core guys to improve our chances in the draft.
