In basketball, fully 1/3 of the league is trying to lose (some artfully, some remorselessly). It mocks the very idea of competition. Everything now is -- be strong and loaded and go for it ... or gut your team and lose shamelessly (and shamefully). No in-between. And it sucks. S U C K S.

I wonder if it's really the tech-nerds that are to blame, however. I think maybe it's a cultural thing, where a championship is all that matters. Being #1.

Media has been gutted/ruined/perverted because of metrics/measurables/observable data.
