I obviously hate how this game played out, but if Joel continues to play, I think we win this series 4-1. The second half should be indicative of how we adjust for the rest of this series. Still major problems with our team, but I don't think ATL is going to keep this heat.

Also, nothing about last game suggests Maxey shouldn't play. I'd agree with you if we had better options, but we simply don't.

Green is fine on Young as long as they are playing the sort of scheme they were in the second half. If they want to drop Embiid like they did to start the game without hard doubles or traps coming from elsewhere you can't have anyone but Simmons and *maybe* Thybulle on him and even that is asking a lot.

I said it multiple times yesterday, but drop coverage is always gonna be an issue against teams who like to pick and roll to death. Specially if you have a lot of space between the perimeter and the paint.

Edit: This was also an issue for the Bucks against the Nets and i think is good that it happened now, because it allows to make adjustments early..... Supossing we fix this

They don't need to fully switch with Embiid he would just have to show hard until Green or whoever is covering Young can recover. He was doing it in the 4th quarter but it's hard to ask him to do all game especially with the knee.

I assume they were just hoping that they could get away with not making Embiid do that against this team, but they learned in the first half that is probably not going to fly.

The Hawks in game one and the series as a whole are very reminiscent of the 2001 Sixers team that went into LA and stole game one of the finals while having zero chance of winning them, but this team has issues nonetheless and they will show big time against the Nets.

Maxey should get minutes in the series, but he shouldn’t be asked to run the offense in an all-bench lineup (and he shouldn’t be guarding Trae). That’s asking too much of the rookie, and the beginning of the second quarter clearly suggested that.

Good. Hopefully he learned his dam lesson. Trying to coach the playoffs like it's the regular Season. No bench player outside of Hill, Thybulle and Howard should be getting any more than 2 minutes on the court in these playoffs.
