IF the Nets experiment fails I'd love to see the Utahs, Phoenix, Denvers, Phillys etc battle it out for the title. So much more exciting than the LeBron squad/KD Warrior gibberish (Raptor and Spurs titles notwithstanding) we've seen over the last 10 years.
If the nets fail and only another super team beat them... Well, forget it.
The parity is great. Should be even more open next season if Lakers and Warriors are healthy.
Healthy Lakers steamroll the west (unless Lebron is washed next season). Warriors are unlikely to be competitive, unless they trade their pick and Wiseman (which I would strongly consider since Curry isn't getting any younger). Klay is coming off the two worst injuries in basketball, back-to-back, late in his career. Most players come back diminished from just one of them. I'd look to trade Wiseman and their pick for KAT or Dame.
Klay will still be a great shooter and will give them 20 ppg again. Issue is whether he can remain a good defender.
Warriors are in win now mode. I imagine they’ll shop their young assets around this summer and try to bring in a 4th big piece next to Steph, Klay, and Dray.
