All the other coaches are being fired, so sure, why not?

I think Mavs have bigger problems with their GM than coach.

Recent reporting out of Dallas is Harlabob might be their biggest issue and I'm guessing most people forgot Dallas even hired him and have no idea how much influence he has gained in the organization.

It's interesting that Cuban came out and endorsed Carlisle the day after game 7. It kind of seemed unprompted in a way. Makes you think not everyone in that org is happy with him.

Harlabob's take that Tatum should have been dealt for what would have been one year of Kawhi, did not age well lol. Guy thought Tatum peaked.

I'm usually critical of Carlisle, always thought he was overrated, but he coached quite well this series. Considering the big talent gap, they took it to 7 games and it was bc of adjustments like putting Boban in. Definitely not on the hot seat.

Also lol at Budenholzer

He's a really interesting dude and incredibly smart. And obviously beat NBA betting to an incredible degree. But I know people in the poker community who found him to be a completely unsufferable jerk and similar things are whispered around the Mavs organization. One of those who has all the answers and isn't open to the possibility that he could ever be wrong. And since this year he started traveling with the team a lot and started providing input on lineup decisions, I can't imagine Rick Carlisle had much patience or use for the guy.

But he has Cuban's ear still. Because he speaks the same language.

Cold. Under Carlisle they've only had one season('10) where they were a top 4 seed and didn't meet expectations in the playoffs. The biggest issue the Mavs face is similar to Cleveland's first run with Lebron in that Luka's talent alone assures they won't miss the playoffs but also means they'll never be bad enough to get any high lotto talent. So for now like Cleveland they have to get creative with trades which is what they've been doing since Dirk entered his prime. It's also puzzling why Dallas never seems to be a target for the biggest FA's. They always seem to get the mid-tier ones but never the top ones or do we even hear of top guys specifically naming them. They have good ownership, stable organization, and Dallas isn't a small market so its a little surprising.

Carlisle would be the most sought after coach on the market if he were fired. He's a top-5 to top-10 coach without debate (current, not all time).

Really it's been the Mav's front-office that has failed, not Carlisle.

Easily. If he was let go there would be teams who would let go of their current coach to try and bring on Carlisle. He gets way more out of role players than the majority of coaches and has championship experience. Also to go that long without major success and not lose a locker room. It says a lot about his approach and leadership. Until he fails with a contender style roster his seat won’t even get warm.

Carlisle is a great coach and to be fair the Mavs have exceeded expectations past couple years. They were not favorites or had HCA in any of those series.

Not hot, and should not be hot

Dude can coach. Front office needs to get better players.

And to be fair to the GM, he didn't know both Porzingis and Powell would have season-altering injuries last year (that diminished both this year).
