Why is Giannis shooting so many 3's??? He's clearly killing it inside. Stick to the game plan. :banghead:

100 person have said this, but I'm gonna be the 101st and say that I think the Bucks are idiots for having Lopez play drop coverage. He's giving up practice shots to KD in the midrange.

Tucker trying to get into KD's head. Doubt it will work.

The Bucks need to fire whoever convinced Giannis that he's the next Dirk immediately.

How well would Giannis have to shoot from 3 for teams to guard him out there? He shoots like 80% at the rim, would teams guard him if he's shooting even 40% from 3?

A lot to unpack here.

I think it's telling that the author takes it as a given that he knows who the "MUCH better" player is even as he recognizes that the player he knows to be better is "less useful". This is where I'd point out that there's no actual difference between the two terms and those thinking there is have confused themselves.

It is meaningful to talk about context-specific value as opposed to a more general "goodness" which implies something more like an average-expected value, but if you're "less useful in the playoffs", you're not a "much better player" by definition.

I'm not going to agree with him that it's any kind of a given that Mitchell is better than Giannis in the playoffs. He's clearly the better scorer, but the overall comparison is more complex as always. But if Mitchell is better in the playoffs than Giannis, then by the standards established by the basketball world, he's better than Giannis period. For better or for worse, playoff basketball is used as the ultimate gauge of how good a player is in NBA basketball culture.

To get a touch more specific, what we're essentially talking about is Mitchell's "thing" scaling better against tougher, smarter defense than Giannis' thing. The great question of Giannis continues to be - for the 3rd post-season in a row - whether he can figure out a counter to the counter. Can he learn to hit the proverbial curveball, or not?

I agree. I might argue, that what he meant by the much better player, is that the larger sample size (RS) is cearly suggestive of Giannis being much better. I also think he is a bit confused himself, because he is hesitant to say that Giannis is worse than Mitchell because it seems so extreme, yet these playoffs MItchell has performed better.

Dribble in 3’s are so effortless it’d be lower than that, but I could see it being a good tradeoff til around 36%

We all knew Nets/Bucks would be a throwback to mid 90s basketball.

Well he's at like 12% this series and can't seem to beat Blake Griffin off the dribble.

Just give me Donovan Mitchell.

Too bad KD doesn't have the self-confidence to do this kind of stuff on a normal team instead of a league-ruining superteam.

He is doing this without Harden. The Nets don't have any more talent than the Bucks.

Your criticism doesn't make sense.

i think people who Miss 90's basketball miss the post heavy style of offenses more than the low scoring

people usually hate low scoring games even though you generally are the opposite in comments

Who does Khris Middleton think he is, what kind of shot is that. Awful decision making.

They absolutely have more talent than the Bucks. Giannis has lost the plot, Khris and Jrue are just pretty good players, and the rest of their team is nothing special. I can't stand Kyrie but I'd take him over anyone on the Bucks besides Giannis.

The Nets don't even need Harden, that's how stacked they are and how enormous their margin for error is.

I disagree. I think this Bucks team should be able to beat this Brooklyn team without their best player.

Khris Middleton! What a great game for him. The end Durant vs Khris duel was special.

Now needs to play like this for the rest of this series.
