I would've loved to make this trade if McCollum were a little younger. He will 30 years old by the start of next season.

Weaver wouldn't do that trade.

Why? McCollum doesn't fit into the Pistons competitive window at all and this makes zero sense for Portland unless they're looking to drive Lillard out of town.

Weaver isn't trading any of the Core 3 anytime soon (Hayes, Bey and Stewart, the latter two in particular). Stewart and Bey especially have exactly the attitude Weaver is looking for and are pillars of the culture he's trying to build, not to mention their value when taking into account rookie contract and upside. I'd probably add Grant in the "close to untouchable" list, another "culture building" guy. Can't see Weaver parting with him for at least a year. Everybody else, including Hayes to an extent, is expendable I'd think.

I like the idea of CJ as a 2 gaurd, but I really don't like the idea of trading Stewart when he has shown so much promise. He had an exceptional rookie year for a bigman. I also loathe the idea of trading a future first. Pistons are not in a position to do that right now.

Nay.

Trade Stewart?? Lmfao. This place has went downhill.

We finally got a big that has a high motor, protects the rim and can score some in and outside and ppl wanna trade that away?

This “trade Stewart” stuff is a typical thing, though. You get more than you expected from a pick, you doubt it’s real because you didn’t expect it, and you sometimes move on because you don’t want to be disappointed that it was a mirage. People can try and call it “selling high”, but it’s actually more a form of putting the world back in order.

OT: I did this twice with women when I was younger and single. One I don’t regret, because it turns out she was indeed too good to be true. The other was the biggest mistake of my life.

OT2: I’ve been on this forum longer than I’ve known my wife, and we’ve been married a dozen years. Kinda weird to think about.

Yea I don’t get that. And this trade is impossible like lip said. We can’t trade a future first until 2027 or until we deliver Houston it’s pick.

I believe we can trade a future first as long as it's got different protection on it.

Not that we should but I do believe we are able to

grant singed here, in part, to pat for a black coach, black gm, in a black city. In ant trade, those things should be considered, and with those things said grant isnt going to be traded. period.

Sounds like we'd need to trade him to Philly, who I think he'd be a great fit for starting with Harris and Embiid.

Doc Rivers, Elton Brand, and even minority team owner Will Smith.

This free agency is so underwhelming that I think our best chance at improving our roster is trading Joseph/McGruder to cap desperate teams.

No Grant isn't going anywhere.

Some interesting deals could happen with Plumlee though. Surprised how interested other fans are and I loved the signing.

Plumlee/Jackson are probably are best trade chips that are available outside of Joseph/Mcgruder non guaranteed contracts. And I see them as basically average.

Those would be some weird protections. How would that even work?

We could trade our pick if it falls inside the top 17.

So 1-17 to team X & 18-30 to Houston

Naturally we'd likely put some protections on it so we keep it if it falls top 6 so:

1 to 6 = we keep it
7 to 17 = Team X
18 to 30 = Houston

Not saying we should trade a first, just saying it is possible

Has been established that before trading McGruder and/or CoJo their contracts would have to be guaranteed.

Methinks we'll be dumping both for "cap flexibility"

I think Stewart still has some development to do, he can get a lot better, I expect at some point he will become like broken McDyess in the midrange game, knocking down 15 footers at will.

I was thinking of a deal last night...but then I seen something similar in the trade forum.

Would you guys take on the final 2 years of Saric & Jevon Carter for Corey Joseph + Okafor?

The deal I was thinking Saric/Carter & #29 for Joseph/Okafor and one of our 2nds. (#42 or #51)

I'd be more inclined to keep our 2nds, cut CoJo and McGruder lose and just see what we see:

Stewart - Plumlee - Okafor
Grant - Sekou - Cook
Bey - JJ - Sirv
2021 Lotto pick - Diallo - Frank
Hayes - Lee

Got zero need for shenanigans or weird moves.

Our 2nds become 2 way deals and a Euro stash

Kids play, Kids do what they do, we end up with a 2022 Lotto pick

Hey im good with the 2k way lol. Just keep thinking of what these "big things next year" plans are. Well even with that mind set I guess "big things" shouldn't be Saric & Carter lol.

This. Just keep is simple, no need to get cute with it like we tried 2 years ago with the whole getting a late 1st and trading back nonsense.

Plus, unless a whole hell of a lot of improvement happens between now and the next season, I'm expecting this team to not make the playoffs or at least fight for a spot either. Just mark it down for another year of internal improvement from the young guys and if surprises happen, roll with it I guess.

The "big things next year" comment came from Grant didn't it?

Obviously he's got high hopes in himself and his team mates but unless our rookie is Luka 2.0 I can't see us making the playoffs
