Very disappointing news.

If this was an overuse injury then management and training staff should be held responsible for playing him when there was no need to.

He really needed a full summer of development to tighten up his game and get his mind right again. This injury really dampens my expectations of him long-term.

Siakam without a summer/training camp is going to be painful to watch.

He can still work on his game he just can’t be in any live runs.

Where do we get to the point where guys getting paid millions shouldn’t play when healthy? There are no pointless regular season games he’s paid to play, injuries are apart of the game

No more tanking, one weird year in Tampa Bay was fine. 2021-2022 is a contend year

Didn't he injure this shoulder in his last game (vs Memphis)?

**** this sucks though. He still won't get a full offseason to himself.

Depending on how fa and the draft goes this shouldn’t be a big blow. It’s not like he raises the ceiling for this team.

Stop going hyper over his stats.

This is why we'll miss him:

Contend? You are in for a surprise if that's your expectation.

Uh oh. Where did this come from?

He’s not getting traded now and Boucher is definitely staying. This has really no impact on us competing next year either, as he should be back around November - December if everything goes well.

What other NBA stars had shoulder surgery recently? How did it affect them?

He hurt it in the Memphis game. Very bad luck, with only 5 or so games left in the season at that point.

Not sure I understand the criticism towards the team here. They tried rehab and strengthening, and then went the surgery route when it wasn't responding. You should always try to avoid surgery if you'll get the same results.

As others have pointed out, the big loss here is Pascal's opportunity to work during the summer.

we'll be fine as long as he doesn't lose his joy for the game again. Another benefit is whoever we draft with our pick likely won't have to worry about 'fitting in' to our offensive hierarchy with Pascal ahead of them and we can get a good sense for what they are capable of early on.

Contend for the 6-8 seed man.

Paul George had surgery on both shoulders. Took him a couple years to be completely 100 percent. He said so in an interview.

This wasn't an overuse injury though.. It was just an unfortunate instance in one game.

And just sitting Siakam out wouldn't have been good for him either. He needs in game reps to keep working on things and establish rhythm in his game.

Paul George, but he had two at the same time. He's on year two, he still doesn't look the same.

It affects the shot, rebounding...any contact really.

If he's out 5 months, it means he'll be back by November/December.

I certainly don't mind tanking another year, but it's not like he's going to be out for the season. It'll likely just be a month, maybe 2.

He’ll be back at the start of the season so this virtually has no implication on whether or not we will tank next year. This does likely mean he won’t be traded this summer (I think that was moderately unlikely anyway) and it probably
means there’s no way Boucher is moved which is the biggest roster takeaway.

Hope he recovers well and is able to come back without any setbacks.

Look at all the things we have in play right now. We aren't just going into year two of a casual tank.

Didn’t anyone tell this guy not to throw the circle change!!!

On a serious note; this will be two off seasons in a row where he doesn’t have the chance to practice and improve.

A big part of giving him a max deal was his work ethic and the improvements he was projected to make.

I don’t think I can’t understate how unfortunate the last two off seasons how been for him.

Just brutal.
