I don’t Beal is up there at all when you have guys like Porzingis, John Wall, Andrew Wiggins, Kevin Love, Kemba Walker etc collecting outrageous checks. Beal is just on a bad team.

Correct. Beal is an All-Star and the 2nd leading scorer in the league, he is certainly a level (or 2) above the 5 players you mentioned.

And Wall is the absolute king of overpaid players - he is due to make $44,310,840 next season, the 2nd-highest salary in the league behind Steph. AND he has a player option for 2022-23 for over $47 million. For a guy who has played a TOTAL of 113 games over the last 4 seasons.

Yeah, he's worth at least 15. Maybe upwards of 20. Definitely not max money. Definitely over the MLE.

Is Kemba Walker toast? Would anybody here consider him if it meant getting assets back?

No I would not consider him for Boston’s meager assets and he is toast.

Doesn't BOS still have some #1's stockpiled, and BTW, I'd love to get Nesmith.

I don’t think so and nothing they have is worth taking Walker. We are trying to win not take on albatross contracts.

:o :o

No way Theis gets that AAV, unless you mean 2/16M which equates to 8M per year. I can live with that.

No, I was just saying I would prefer Theis even at 16M per, than KP at 32M.. Theis could get in 10-12M range anyway.

You also thought LaVine shouldn’t get a contract over 12-14 mil/year.

well the Bulls made the top 5 in this article, and to me it was a good deal, now that Coby is injured it's really a great deal

https://sports.yahoo.com/kemba-walker-trade-five-hypothetical-150442455.html

They ship the 3 expiring contracts of Young, Aminu and Satorasnky which are close to equal what Walker gets and the nab a pair of FRPs. Even before Coby comes back they're in pretty good shape, with or without Markkanen. If Lauri has a team that wants to S&T for him the Bulls could only be looking for bench players and could take 2 or 3 with smaller contracts. Walker can show both White and Dotson what a PG is. The big move after that is trying to find the room to resign Theis. Retain Brown, bring back Green and the needs are PFs and a backup 5.

The option would be to trade either the 2022 BOS or their own to get a pick this year.

For BOS, they could look at the other proposed trades where they get nothing, Porzingas, a few more lost steps of Horford or three reserves from LAC. Stevens may see how the Bulls give them 3 veterans who fill in around Brown and Tatum without needing to have the ball to contribute and can understand that their best bet for their next contract is to show that they can be role players.

Meh.

Kuzma is on a decent deal, but I think I'd rather have the cap space next summer.

One problem.... That is an awful deal and i would lose all faith in AK if he did that.

Bulls receive: Kemba Walker, Celtics' 2022 first-round pick (lottery protected); Celtics' 2025 first-round pick (top-5 protected)

Why it works: Full disclosure: We stole this one from Twitter (with a slight modification). The Celtics flip Walker for three expiring contracts, giving them tons of cap flexibility after the 2021-22 season to pursue a third star alongside Tatum and Brown.
They would have to lose the protection on the picks to not get hung up on. You don't get to walk out of that contract for two low first-round picks.

AKME aren't planning to clear max cap space in 2022.
KP agrees to waive his player option for 2023-24 as part of the trade, so that he expires in July 2023 (the same time as Vuc)
KP waives his trade kicker
Dallas trades KP for Sato, Aminu, and a S&T'd Felicio to make the salaries work
Dallas adds Brunson to the deal

KP is no longer the unicorn, but he still put up 20/9 in 31 min this season. Shot 38% on 3's with 6 att/game. His 1.3 blocks would have led our team, and his 3.2 FTA/game would have been 2nd to Zach.

He was 13th in the league in BLK%, 6th in the league in TO%. 19th in DefReb%. If he would have played 6 more games, he would have been 16th in rebounds per game. He just posted career highs with a 21.3 PER, .582 TS%, 15.8 TotalReb%, 6.4 TO%, .154 WS/48 and 2.9 OBPM.

He's overpaid for the next 2 seasons, but that's irrelevant if AKME don't plan on playing the cap space game in 2022.

I don't expect anyone to agree, but I could live with this rotation for the next 2 years:

Vuc - Theis
KP - Thad
Williams - TBJ
Zach - Temple
Coby - Micic

We would also have the BAE this summer, plus the Full MLE minus whatever amount it takes to sign Micic

Plus Green, Simonovic, 2021 2nd rounder, 2022 1st rounder

Why would Dallas want to do that? They would get absolutely nothing of quality back and would be giving up a good young point guard in Brunson.

No way Dallas does that deal. It would have to be along the lines of Lauri(S&T) and probably Thad or Sato for them to consider.

I'm all in on THT, but it the poison pill approach would require either a S&T with LA (which I would think unlikely - but would LOVE a deal for Lauri there) or letting Thad, Sato, Aminu, and possibly Theis go (which is the only guy I would care about losing).
