Re: Around the NBA (Non-Celtics) 2020-21, Part 2
People always bring up Shaq and missing FTS, but shaq was super aggressive, he was gonna score or foul your good players out which helps the other players. Ben and sometimes Giannis, let playoff teams keep them out the paint. You aren't keeping shaq out. You could defend him well, but you aren't just keeping him out of there, piss poor foul shooter or not! They can't stop giannis or Ben if they don't let them! Go at their heads, both are afraid to get fouled at the end of games! Hell, Shaq convinced himself he made them when he needed them, that's what you need, supreme confidence even when your play doesn't match, because it will push you through the bad. You need a delusional belief in yourself out there!

If Simmons could shoot free throws like Shaq, Philly wins in like 5 games.

Omg how do you only attempt 3 FGs in 7 games????
3???!!?!?!!?
IN FREAKING 7?!?!?!?!!
This guy is a defensive Center with PG playmaking skills.
Any team that trades for him and plays him the way MIA plays Bam will instantly be extremely happy.
But he can not play with another Center who is low post oriented like Embiid.
This guy just won Defensive Player of the Year for a reason. He is Bam.
I know the Owners have put a mandate on spending any money on the franchise, but I guarantee you if we traded Kemba and the #16 for Ben and played him at the 5 with Tatum, Brown, Smart in the lineup people would unanimously claim us to have the best young core in the NBA.
You just need to play him in the role his skills fit in, and that's as a defensive Center who can facilitate offense or attack the rim rolling off picks. Hell even if you do a pick and pop and he gets a head of steam going downhill he's going to get to the rim or make an excellent pass to an open man the rotating has to defend.
He just like Rondo though has to be the only player on the court who can't shoot or requires to be at the rim to score. And on offense 90% he's on the court you want him to be setting a pick to start the set that way you can unlock him going downhill attacking the rim against a rotating defense which is his 1 offensive tool outside of fantastic dribble and passing.
3 fg attempts in 7 games is inexcusable. Call him what you want, he's this or that, whatever, that is pathetic and shows me there's something more going on besides his skillset

That Sixers duo of Ben and Joel just ain't it. They don't compliment each other. Ben has too many deficiencies to be a real star player and doesn't put in the work. And Joel is dominant... until the end of the game when he's gassed and repeatedly fails to close and get them over the hump. They should have traded Ben for an Allstar scorer while he had peak value. Now maybe they can get McCollum or something, if they're lucky.

I'd tell the angel of death "not today" because I'm shooting it myself.
It's all in the knees. I can't believe how many stiff-legged free throw shooters there are in the NBA. Terrible, terrible coaching.
This is how it should be done. Watch the knees.

KOC is nothing if not consistent in this take. This kid's issues are mostly upstairs and his ego won't let him address his problems.

Love that Philly lost...a great example of how instilling a culture of losing for so long doesn't entitle you to a culture of winning later.
Simmons actually isn't the problem (sort of). He is who he is and they made a bad bet on him to improve. His coach and the city have put too much pressure on him and now here they are. He'll be gone (because he wont improve), then all the pressure will be on Embiid, and then he'll want to leave.

100% agree. One thing I've noticed when shooting lately as I don't play anymore is if I focus and bend my knees the results are so much better and it feels better. Of course in my case, it's mostly about muscle memory and I'm slowly losing both. Why NBA players don't get it is beyond me.

Nobody on this entire website is better than the worst NBA player in the league. It's the lack of simple fundamentals Curm was referring too as well as myself.

Unless he puts some effort into his game, reality will settle within 2 years when his extension nears its end. Nobody's paying 30+ mils to that guy ever again if he doesn't change a lot.
Good assessment:

On another topic, did anyone watch Embiid's post-game press conference? He threw everyone under the bus except himself, and is now a finalist for the Kyrie Irving Leadership Award.
I wouldn't want to play on any team where Embiid is the centerpiece. Forget about trading Simmons. There will be no championships in Philly until they unload Embiid.

What a great would you rather lol. I’d go Giannis I mean I’ll prob die either way but Ben makes Giannis look like Rick Barry at the line I mean how can you be that bad I’m not even sure he’s actually left handed.

You got it curm. All in the rhythm. I used an exaggerated bend. Both feet at the line, shoulder width apart, 3 dribbles with both hands. Helps late in the game too. Wish my golf swing was as good but that's a lot harder in my opinion.
Not enough backboard use either. Softens the shot.

Re: Around the NBA (Non-Celtics) 2020-21, Part 2
While Simmons is flawed, the real problem with this Sixers team is what we always knew it would be: Embiid’s health. He just played a series with a torn meniscus! If he’s healthy, they almost certainly advance.
So now you go into the off-season and your franchise corner stone just put a huge amount of stress on his body. When do you think he comes back? I think he will have an extended off-season.
So I think they keep Ben. Because even though they can probably get a Beal or McCollum, neither of those guys can hold down the fort without Embiid. So I really think you keep Simmons and just hope he improves.
The other idea is that you completely blow it up. How about trading Ben and Harris for Westbrook and Beal?

Been saying for years Embiid isnt a leader. He disappears in the 4th and had a key turnover himself the other night. Dont worry, the Philly fan base will turn on him too once he starts to blame them next.....this will be fun to watch.

I'm immensely happy that Sixers and Nets are done. Guess I'm kind of a hater.
Simmons has been ruined by playing out of position his entire life.
