Pretty much the sentiment I have with most people here. Prefer other guys, but eh, what do I know? Dude's experienced and the Pop tree is legit.

I don´t know much about our new coach but I am excited about everything I´ve read about him.

I can´t wait for the press conference!

I’m glad they got him. The players wanted him and I think Udoka will connect with them and they’ll play hard for him. It’s hard to see things going south due to player’s attitudes with him as the coach. It’ll be a strategy issue if he fails as coach with these players. I liked Billups and Cassell too but I think they’re just bigger names. Udoka has more coaching experience than them. I’m positive Udoka was their first choice. If the Celtics didn’t hire him, another team would have this off-season.

Glad that the search is over, things can start moving forward again. I hope that as a first-time coach he, much like his former boss Steve Nash, will surround himself with 1-2 guys with head-coaching experience. (Nash had Mike D'Antoni and Jacque Vaughn.)

He absolutely needs to be reigned in. He plays like Steph Curry on offense but with half the talent. Just pass the ball to Tatum and Brown and take an occasional shot.

What silly hyperbole lol, c’mon now. He pretty much always does what you describe in the last sentence, when the team is healthy. He shoots more when guys are injured, just like every other player ever. I’m not saying they won’t say shoot a bit less, but it’s not some situation that’s bad enough where he needs to be reigned in.

"The Celtics received strong recommendations for Udoka from Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, who played for him during the 2019 FIBA World Cup."

Well he fits my entire criteria

Not good news imo about 5 better options.

lmao this is so far off. he takes like 5 shots a game when the Celtics are healthy. Problem is they haven't been healthy in four years so he gets pushed from fourth option to second half the time. Smart was ninth in FGA/possession for the Celtics this last year.

So we're going to use the not healthy in ____ years excuse every year? Next year its going to be the Celtics haven't been healthy in 5 years so that's why Marcus jacks up 10 3s. Seriously should play him like Rondo. Just pass the ball and play D. Thats it.

I like him when hes locked in on defense but the fact he can't do any wrong with a certain sect of the board is odd. Dude takes bad shots consistently. I'm tired of the injury excuse with this team too. Maybe the pieces just don't fit.

Who should be taking the shots? Smart as ninth on the roster in shot per possession. Should those shots go to Kemba Walker, who had a worse shooting efficiency for most of the season? Maybe Tristan Thompson? Carsen Edwards? Semi?

Tatum was fourth in the NBA in shots per game. He needs to take even more?

I'm tired of all the injuries too. This team is Tatum and 14 injury prone players.

Fournier and Kemba for starters. Listing off TT who is supposed to be a rebounder and multiple jobbers doesn't reinforce your point. Its like saying should Jimmer Ferdette start over Marcus Smart. No Marcus is a good role player who people on here desperately wants to view as this borderline indispensable star while Jimmer, Edwards, Langford and Semi are all jobbers who shouldn't be in the NBA.

Injuries happen to every single team but really good teams overcome them. The Celtics cannot.

Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

What an idiot. Bill Russell, KC Jones and Doc Rivers lose their black card all of sudden?? He's so stuck in perpetuating this racist Celtics narrative along with his buddy Kyrie that he forgot we were the first team in the history of the league with a black head coach. Hope hes forced to make a public mea culpa.
