I'll take Brown for Green right now.LofJ wrote:I struggle to think of any players that are worth the 3 pick, are on the trade market, and the trading team is okay with a pick coming back. Jaylen Brown? Jaren Jackson? Siakam? Towns?
Other guys like Beal, Turner, etc. will be UFAs in the not too distant future. It would be idiotic to trade the 3rd pick for them if you're a team like the Cavs. They'll walk and Cleveland will be left with nothing.

Uhm, if we wanted to compare apples and oranges, we’d first have to point out that there is no real way MIN could have done an extensive coaching search midseason, when Finch was under contract. We’d also have to point out that MIN also went through extensive coaching interviews just 1.5 years earlier. And most importantly, MIN was already the most diverse brain trust in the NBA.
Gersson Rosas - first Latino GM
Sachin Gupta - India
Ryan Saunders - white USA
Pablo Priglioni - Argentina/Italy
David Vanterpool - black USA
This complaint was supposedly about diversity - but it was a thinly veiled complaint about diversity exclusively for black coaches. If an organization like the NBA Coaches Association is going to make accusations about a team not equally treating everyone, they need to acknowledge all diversity. The complaint was hypocrisy, from people who should know better.

A Kenny Rogers tribute brings in opening day with the gambler then followed up with the national anthem. Carlisle bailing made no sense to me. Now amid all the chaos, it makes to much sense. Good for him.

Indeed, Cuban is a clown. With the teams that are still in the playoffs and the chaos going on with my Mavs, this may be the most depressed I've ever been as a basketball fan. And I was a fan during the early 90s when Mavs sucked and never got the #1 pick.

Re: Thoughts in General, Rumors, etc 3.0
So Nico is big Nike guy who played a part in getting Luka onto Jordan brand. Paul wears Jordan brand and played in the Olympics with Kidd and can become a free agent.
So Paul opts out, Dallas lets everyone go and gets to $35M or so in space and guarantees 3 full years starting there with max raises.
Only half joking here.

Buddy, I’d like to remind you that you haven’t hit rock bottom. You could have an owner named Vivek Ranadive and a coach named Luke Walton… so you’re still in better hands.

See now this is a friend, tyring to make someone feel better when the chips are buried. But Cuban is inching closer and closer to Vivek territory. I mean Kidd is in the same convo as Walton in terms of terrible coaches. And I've never seen much of Vivek, but I'm willing to bet Cuban is far more arrogant and ego centric than him

LOL! And did you notice how Dame came down on the Wolves for not hiring Vanterpool — and didn’t endorse him when his own team needed a coach?

I see no benefit in defending this bottom-dwelling franchise any longer and would much rather see others happy. I’m still a die-hard Kings fan, but I will not follow blindly.
Cuban is arrogant and ego-centric, something that we’ve all known for quite some time. He also put trust into the right people for years. It just seems that recently he’s gotten a little… weird. He’s not a basketball expert, yet he’s playing that card. That’s definitely similar to Vivek’s history, but we have not seen the results of Cuban’s first major “I’m smarter than the NBA” flurry of moves. Vivek did the right thing in hiring smart dudes, but then he didn’t like their paths and decided to meddle. Hopefully Cuban’s gamble (oooh, Harlabob rubbed off) pays off and y’all can be happy. If he stays out of Finley/Nico’s way, then that’s miles better than Vivek. Dame is publicly liking that Nico hire, so a silver lining may be out there right in the open.
I will say that the Kidd hire is absolutely stupid though… unless Finley/Nico already said that’s who they wanted. We’ve seen this story (owner hires coach before GM) and it never ends well.
LET GMS HIRE THEIR OWN COACHES!

I know nothing about Heat Nation or the Lillard source in regards to credibility so apologies if they aren't good. Just thought I'd dump a few interesting tweets while posting about the SGA stuff. Maybe Toronto does their pick and a future protected 1st? Maybe Cleveland likes SGA enough to move their pick and a portion of a Sexton return from a third team for SGA? NOP with all their picks? Memphis tries to target a 3rd star?

Don't know the Herro stuff. The Lillard stuff is from here, sounds vague and speculative at best:
https://theathletic.com/2667978/2021/06/23/coaching-search-the-focus-on-neil-olsheys-offseason-cj-mccollum-on-the-trade-block-blazers-mailbag/
Terry Stotts is out as coach. There are rumblings that Damian Lillard is getting antsy.
And the SGA stuff sounds like it was....well a step below that.
Spoiler:
