Honestly, do you guys even follow this franchise? In what universe is Leon Rose trading an All-NBA vet for two kids? To play for Tom “developmental coach” Thibs under Jim “Patience” Dolan?

It’s unreal to me that fans in 2021 still post this stuff. It’s literally been since (at least) 1985 that they’ve done the exact opposite of what you’re suggesting.

But hey, you never know! Cary on, draftnik optimists!

I doubt the raps would trade siakam...

I want us to use caps pace to take on contracts to help move up in the draft or for young talent like sexton.

They traded a key piece of the championship team in Powell and tried to trade Lowry at the deadline, what is this loyalty you speak of that would prevent them from trading Siakam?

Considering Toppin isn't really that good, no, that's a fair offer. I question why OKC is interested in a boatload of picks considering the have an entire cruise ship full. I could see OKC and SGA being involved in a three way deal if Lillard is dealt. Presti can basically be part of any deal he wants at this point with a stud PG and all said picks.

I would probably do it.

We could have:

Mitch
Randle
RJ
SGA
Quickley

Plus cap space to sign a max cat...if we somehow can sign Beal, Lavine, etc that's a really good team
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

But hey, you never know! Cary on, draftnik optimists!

I agree that Randle is not going to be traded, for almost any package centered around a draft pick. However, I don’t think that’s the right paradigm.

In 1998, we trade Charles Oakley for third year center Marcus Camby, coming off a tough season with Ewing clearly in decline. That move allowed us to pick up the best player in the trade (Camby), while pushing us further from contention in the near term.

If Wiseman were viewed as a potentially superior player to Randle, then sure, it’s a possibility. I don’t think that’s the case, and I don’t think our front office thinks so either. The sum of the parts idea of Wiseman + lottery pick doesn’t really make sense either, because stars win in this league; it makes more sense to consolidate talent than acquiring quantity.

All of which is to say, if there’s a move to be made to get a clearly superior talent than Randle, I think we would do it, regardless of age, experience, etc. A high draft pick alone doesn’t give you a high degree of confidence in that, at least not in this draft class. Therefore, in this context, I don’t think Randle for that package makes sense for us.

its probably too light. They have no use for 2nd round picks. Probably sub a couple of those 2nd round picks with 1st round pick swaps and add another 1 rounder.

4 1sts
2 1st swaps
Obi

you might get there attention.

I clearly said "I'd do it" not that the Knicks would do it

sure, the Knicks won't do it. that being said tho, #7 + Wiseman is a good offer for Randle

I personally don't see Randle as a #1 and don't know if we'll be able to add a #1 in the next couple years, so this trade would let them build around RJ's timeline w/ a practically empty cap sheet in case a star does become available...rather than giving Julius the max

Lillard outright named Billups as a coach he wants to play for. Portland just gave him a 5 year deal. The sexual allegations stuff looks bad, the fact that the two guys he named both have checkered pasts it seems (though I don't know much about the Billups situation) but it would look weak for him to demand to bolt after PDX did exactly what he wanted within what he can control. He would also be screwing over Billups who would be coaching an overtly bad team with presently lackluster future assets. On top of that SAS always makes a point to talk about how non-white coaches don't get the same opportunities as their white counterparts. Setting up Billups to fail like that could be a career ender.

Sextons a 6th man on a really good team.

He could end up Lou Williams type which is fine but I’m not paying big money or giving up a lot of assets for him

It does not make sense for OKC to trade a star in the making for a bunch of more crapshoots at the draft with mid/late picks and an underwhelming rookie.

If the OKC is really avoiding a Max FA next season, they are willing to trade SGA for another high potential rookie player younger than SGA (Edwards?) or a Top4 pick in this year's draft.

Only an RJ Barret package could make sense.

the deal that makes sense is one with TOR if TOR wants to trade there #4 pick plus other assets.

Macri just issued a podcast where we sign Lowry at 2-3 years/$50-60M and pair him with

1. Derozan?
2. Josh Hart?
3. (I fell asleep before I heard who this guy was)
