Like you said the "league reset" FA class is soon upon us and that will be awesome for teams to completely change there direction and the young rebuilding teams to maybe take leaps as the top dogs as some of the best teams wont be able to retain all there guys.

On top of that I am working in the background with Bish on a potential FA google docs sheet that we all can view all the FA's and see what it would take for your team to be the winning bid. Bish would have the ability to edit the file and we would be able to see changes in real time.

No more PM bish to "inquire" about FA's. Everything will be right at our disposal to see what it will take to sign a FA. That should really alleviate a lot of the work bish has to do just to respond to PM's that aren't even official offers. Just some minor tweaks to figure out but I would love to give it a trail run this current FA class because its much small and we will see how it goes.

That would be a wonderful tool. So basically a form where you could input your ranking next to a player and it would export a number based on a formula?

This sounds awesome any chance it could be in ready in time for this years free agency to test it out?

I think thats the hope. Obviously Bish wants to review before we officially test it out and wants to get comfortable editing it.

Don't want to test it out on the big FA class without us not knowing it works on a small FA class.

I still think if you believe you can beat the bid after reviewing the spreadsheet that you still have to send it in to Bish to review. Reason is he can confirm that you are within your cap and roster slot restrictions

Yes. But it cuts out the intermittent questions. Basically, you submit and it either get it and the sheet is updated or you don't.

I looked into some online auctioning software which would cut Bish from the bidding process entirely after setup but there was nothing that did what we want with tiered systems. We'd basically have to program from scratch and I don't know how to do that.

With the 2022 offseason coming up and so many free agents hitting the market, there is no way the vets are going to allow this to be the last season. The opportunity to be part of an offseason like that is going to draw so much interest that there is no way the game doesn't last past this year. We expect chaos and we want to be part of it 100%.

100%, july 4th will be great and the offseason with the trades, followed by the draft, and FA will kick start it again.

Basically bish would have a tab where only he could edit which had a list of every FA and what the leading bid and team was.

Then we would all have access to a tab that had the below

Image

You would be able to drop down on the player name (any available FA)

The file would find what team the leading bidder is for that player and update everything. You would just have to select your team name on your bid. Then you have the ability to decide how many years you want to give that player.

As you change the years the $ value goes down obviously. In this scenario because Utah has a better FA then I did last year it would take me $12 to outbid for Frank in this case to beat Utah. I don't have it saved now but say I wanted to give Frank 4 years...the file auto calculates that I would need to pay Frank $10 a season @ 4 years to beat the current Utah offer.

100%

Bish will still approve every official offer (and it wont be official until bish adjusts it on the google sheet). No team will be able to adjust anything on the file outside of viewing it. Bish will manage the FA page that shows the highest bidder.

There will still need to be a submission process of some sort to properly offer a guy a contract and then if its a legal winning bid Bish would just update the page.

He will only have edit functionality...the rest of the teams will only have view functionality. And the formulas will be locked on for Bish and me to edit if something goes wrong.

This will eliminate all the "inquiries" which probably is a majority of the PM's to bish anyway. Saving him a ton of time.

It is going to be awesome for everyone too.

Most importantly saves bish all that leg work prior to someone submitting an official offer.

But also I know GM's admitted to this sometimes you didn't even want to bother Bish because you knew all the work it would take so you only saved PM's for guys you really wanted even though you were at least interested in inquiring about someone else.

Now its up to you. You can decide how many FA's you want to look up on your own time to see if they are available and what contract it would take to win them.

The only sacrifice we would be making is blind bidding. I think that is a small price to pay for a much updated FA system.

Or you can assign each team a unique number, eventually you maybe able to figure it out once the signings are announced but the initial ones would remain anonymous, but in the grand scheme of things this is a small sacrifice to save Bish a ton of time

A couple quick things... first as far as the last gofundme I wanted everyone to know that I did reach out to Mecca after he said to in the last discussion thread. I didn't hear back from him but I assume that he found out that the money was refunded and there was really nothing he could do. Once he left the game it was an out of sight out of mind thing and by the time someone mentioned it again, he was gone and I couldn't withdraw. I sincerely appreciate anyone who donated any amount. It is definitely not a requirement for the game but it is appreciated.

Second as far as FA goes, mph and I have discussed the spreadsheet a bit via PM and it obviously sounds very promising. I have a PM waiting in my inbox from him which I assume is an example that we can work through and try and iron out any kinks before FA begins next month. If all goes well, it could really streamline the entire process and add something to the game. I just finished day six of ten ten hour days in a row at work so I'm saving that PM for the weekend when I should have more time to go over everything. Hopefully this will be a smooth process and we can get in online well before FA officially begins to answer all questions and maybe even try a short mock FA period before the actual one begins.

Lastly, just under 28 hours left for the four teams that haven't submitted their 3rd/4th year player option decisions to submit them to me via PM. Once we hit Saturday, anyone still on this list will have their option declined.

But seriously is indy GM active? This is a pretty simple decision unless cap space is an issue
